Islamabad (AsiaNews) - District judge Mian Muhammad Naeem, of the section of Muzaffargarh, has ruled that the two Christian sisters “have converted in a legitimate manner to Islam”, and for this reason they cannot be “restored to their family of origin”. Setting aside the request from their father to regain custody of his daughters, the judge also admitted the “validity” of the marriage of the girls to two Muslims.

Saba Younas, aged 13, and her sister Anila were kidnapped last June 26 in the village of Chowk Munda, in the province of Punjab, where they had gone to visit their uncle, Khalid Raheel. This is the same uncle who in recent days reported their kidnapping, asking for help from news organisations and human rights groups. According to Raheel’s account, a Muslim fruit vendor named Muhammad Arif Bajwa kidnapped the girls, and then handed them over to a friend, Falak Sher Gill, who then organised the marriage between his own son and the older of the Christian sisters, Saba. In court, moreover, father and son both stressed the “complete willingness of the girl to contract marriage”.

The girls’ uncle does not conceal his preoccupation, and denounces to AsiaNews that the Muslims involved in the kidnapping are acting as a “gang”, recruiting the girls in order to “make them work in a bordello”. This alarm has also been heard by the Catholic commission for justice and peace (NCJP) in the country, which confirms the words of Khalid Raheel: the kidnappers are believed to be human traffickers linked to prostitution, known to the police and under the protection of some local politicians. “For these unscrupulous people”, charges Naeem Asghar, local coordinator of the NCJP, marriage is a pretence in order to control the girls, run their lives and exploit them for their own business purposes".

The Catholic community continues to uphold the cause of Saba and Anila, and promises that the family will not be left to itself. Expressing the hope that the girls will be brought back home, the coordinator of the NCJP emphasises that “an appeal will soon be presented to the high court of Multan, to contest the decision of the district judge” and have the girls “restored to their parents”.*

It really does seem as if this is the perfect cover for organized pedophilia groups to operate in some Muslim societies.

Actually, this is how Muslims keep population control in check. So they rise and non-Muslim girls and boys convert “willingly”. I mean, as the judge said (he didn’t say that- but sounded like he wanted to imply it this way), if the little girl can don a punjabi suit all by herself, she is able to make up her own mind to marry a Muslim boy. So Allah and the court is now taking a break. Go back to your villages.

Shameful and sick. I wonder how times the Judge has made use of the bordello these sick kidnappers run? Or perhaps the judge just hates Christians so much that he is willing to subject these poor girls to life of sex slavery.

They will probably be dead before age 20. These people, most especially the judge are sick and evil.

Ouch! It sounds to me quite like “Never Without My Daughter”, “Sold!” and other troubling stories… Let’s praying for that Catholic community as well as for Saba and Anila, and also for a change of heart in that district judge (why not?)…

It really does seem as if this is the perfect cover for organized pedophilia groups to operate in some Muslim societies.
It certainly is not very pretty, whether it’s pedophilia or another thing… Another black eye to Islam for sure!

Hi,

This is a criminal case. has nothing to do with what islam teaches.

**1st **. It is forbidden to kidnap anyone in islam.

**2nd **It is forbidden to force ( if there is any such thing) someone to embrace islam

**3rd **It is theologically not true in islam that the wife automatically becomes muslim when she marries a muslim.

I wish the family all the bestand i wish them to have theior daughters back. Thes kidnappers acted against what islam teaches.

lets call things as they are , criminal kidnappers. lets leave islam out of it.

best regards,

Meedo

I agree totally.

Erratum! I should have added “Apparently” at the beginning of the second sentence, given what meedo just said after that post of mine.
Yet, is there a way in THAT country to right this wrong within Islamic ruling, or does politics or corruption or whatever made that injustice possible there make it rather impossible?

All I had meant to say was that stories like this one are apt to make Islam look bad in non-Muslim Westerners’ eyes, especially given the way European and American news would talk about it!🙂

Glad you made this one clarification, Meedo. Salaam!👍

Hi,

**1st **. It is forbidden to kidnap anyone in islam.
This restriction does not apply to non-Muslims nor does it apply if a man seeks to marry a particular woman, as is this case. Mohammed kidnapped several of his wives.
**2nd **It is forbidden to force ( if there is any such thing) someone to embrace islam
Patently false. This is classic takiya. The Koran specifically permits Muslims to use coercion to force people to convert.
**3rd **It is theologically not true in islam that the wife automatically becomes muslim when she marries a muslim.
Yet it is not permitted for a Muslim to marry a non-Muslim.
I wish the family all the bestand i wish them to have theior daughters back. Thes kidnappers acted against what islam teaches.

best regards,
I appreciate the sentiments in the first sentence of these paragraphs. But your closing comments are not accurate.

**1st **. It is forbidden to kidnap anyone in islam.
I guess you never have heard of the Devshirme system where Christian boys (Janissaries) were forcibly converted against their will to fight for the Muslims?
**2nd **It is forbidden to force ( if there is any such thing) someone to embrace islam
You know, i would truly like to believe that, but overwhelming evidence from the past contradicts your statement. Furthermore, this persists even today as witnessed by these reports:
NIGERIA: MUSLIMS KIDNAP, CONVERT CHRISTIAN CHILDREN

This is the fate of a non-Muslim, should he try to court a Muslim girl:
Muslims Kill Christian Teenager For Courting Muslim Girl

PHILIPPINES: Letter Demands Bishop Convert To Islam Or Pay Jizya Tax To Ensure His Safety

Kidnapping rape ISLAM looting rape of a Christian girls

There are alot more cases of forced conversions in Islam, but i think you get the picture already. Sure, Muslim leaders love to tell the media and the entire world that Islam is a religion of peace and that they are working on eliminating extremism in Islam. How can they, when it is in the very roots of the Qu’ran?
**3rd **It is theologically not true in islam that the wife automatically becomes muslim when she marries a muslim.
I know that. But reality tells everyone that if a non-Muslim girl were to marry a Muslim, she will be “asked” to convert. Otherwise risk having bad relations with her in-laws.
I wish the family all the bestand i wish them to have theior daughters back. Thes kidnappers acted against what islam teaches.
Thank you for the well wishes, i’m sure the family will be pleased to hear a Muslim telling them that. Oh, but you don’t hear the Muslims in the girls village saying that, do you?

And I am once again lost. I will accept what Meedo and Sister Amy have said that this type of dispicable act is not true Islam. However, what I do not understand is why the Muslims go along with it. Are there no true Muslims in that area? Are there no true Muslims that will stand up and whatever the cost is to them and do what is right? Are there no Muslim nations that will stand for the weak and oppressed against this corrupt Islam?

Ralph… there are Muslims who try to do the right thing. There are. And there are many good Muslims in Pakistan, but you’re talking here about a country with a dictator so corrupt that he basically suspended the constitution and fired the judges to replace them with lackeys, who was adamant about not relinquishing his leadership of the military, is stuck in a violent war between the world’s sole superpower and his neighbor, where power has become a scarce resource that people have to rotate which hours they get lights and energy because there’s not enough power to go around.

I absolutely do not mean to excuse the act. Meedo said it’s not allowed to kidnap anyone. Anyone means anyone. Just because people do it doesn’t make it permissible, legal, acceptable, justifiable, or anything other than forbidden. But I do want to excuse my Muslim brothers and sisters who might not be in a position to do anything to solve the problem, who have also been implicated.

Plus, when you look at any “Muslim country,” be it Pakistan, Libya, or anywhere else and ask if there are “true Muslims” around, know that it is just like any “Christian country” like the USA, or Germany. Sure, there are true upright and religious people there. But most people are more concerned with their day-to-day lives. In the third-world, that means survival, keeping a job and making enough to provide food and shelter for one’s family while trying to stay healthy.

I do not doubt you there for a second and i agree with what you said. I do have some “Muslim” friends who are sincere in their thoughts and hearts; and that is only possible when we put our irreconcilable religious differences apart and view each other as mere human beings. My only wish is that the Pakistani courts or any other court in the Muslim world would be fair and kind towards their non-Muslim neighbours and citizens.

Sister Amy,
You seem to be kind and I know that you are honest. My issue is not based on the fact that these places have corrupt governments. I know and understand that. Why are these governments not deposed and a more honest one put into place? Why do all of them that practice some sort of Islamic law sink into this or some other depravity? Why do the other Nations not stand up and say enough making our faith look bad?

Take Iran. Assuming that the religious leaders there are practicing true Islam (I doubt it, but let’s say they are), why do they not put pressure on the others? Ake Saudi Arabia. Assuming they are following true Islam (again, i doubt it), since they bankroll a majority of Muslim education, why do they not say enough?

The reality is that these corrupt men use Islam as a form of enslavement of the people. It is why they fear democratic reforms in these nations. The whole world would be better off if the true Muslims took up arms and overthrew these garbage governments. It will never happen. Even if they did, it would be another despot in charge.

I just get sick of hearing the no cumpulsion in religion line from the good Muslims (such as you) when it is NEVER EVER put into practice when the rubber meets the road. In all honesty, it makes me feel like I am missing some of the truth.
