And do you also believe in the right of an another nation to elect a strongly left/socialist government as long as elections continue to be held? (eg. Venezuela)
I believe they have a right to their folly.

I believe – contrary to your leftist friends – in democracy. As Jefferson said, “The best cure for the evils of democracy is more democracy.”

I am a strict constructionist – unlike your liberal buddies who believe the Constitution is a “living document.”

Now, what are you?
The poster who you are replying to (Verisimilitude) is coming from a libertarian point of view. He’s not a leftist or a liberal (in the sense you mean).

You can’t seem to comprehend something simple like that, yet you call him a child…

He attacks others, based on his wierd internal idea of what they stand for – that’s childish.

Maybe the two of you can play marbles or mumbly-peg together.😛

And you’re so paranoid about leftists and liberals that you automatically give that label to anyone who disagrees with you. In fact his pov is from the opposite end of the spectrum. Go to the Libertarian or CATO Institute homepages and read some of their views on foreign intervention.

And you and he are so paranoid about conservatives and “neocons” that you automatically give that label to anyone who disagrees with you.

You’re hoist by your own petard, and I think it’s hilarious!:rotfl:

:doh2: You thought he was a lefty, but he’s a libertarian. Perhaps that’s evidence that you don’t really read others posts.

You have missed the joke completely. Perhaps that’s evidence that you don’t really read others posts.

I thought this post was a good example of the problems with labels. They seldom truly apply completely to any specific individual. I am pretty libertarian, but I am not an isolationist.

Bravo!

You broke the code!!

Our correspondent was throwing labels around, calling people he doesn’t like “neo-cons.” When asked to state what a “neo-con” is, he concocted a list of nasty characteristics and challenged others to prove they weren’t “neo-cons.”

I beat him at that game, answering his accusation point-by-point. Then I asked him to prove he wasn’t a Maoist – and gave him a similar list.😉

He hasn’t been able to deal with that.😃

I am hardly an isolationist or uncaring. Just because I do not believe in maintaining tens of thousands of US troops and military equipment in places like Japan, Europe, and every where else other than stationed on US soil does not mean I think the US should withdraw from the world. If Hawaii seceeded from the US like Taiwan did with China would you like if China had troops stationed in Mexico threatening us if we decided to retake Hawaii?

If we are forcing the peace in places like Taiwan and Korea we should force the relief on Myanmar.

Vern wants to force the peace in Iraq but is unwilling to force it in Myanmar. I think he has his priorities backwards. Though he denies it he believes in the empire of extended American military influence. He didn’t denounce the Patriot Act so I assume he supports it. He didn’t disavow tax payer aid packages in the form of corporate welfare and international political manipualtion and though he didn’t comment on other items on the list it is reasonable to conclude he largely supports those ideals as well.

No I got this

but it’s not really that funny. I think I’ve used “neo-con” once, somewhere. You on the other hand are constantly berating others for being socialists, slackers, couch potatoes… your first recourse is to catergorize people.
Funny, I was just going to say that about you.😉
