What advice would you give to someone who is a minor, baptized but non practicing Catholic who is more or less forced by his/her parents to participate in occult/ ceremonies.
The same advice I’d give to a minor who is more or less forced by his/her parents to participate in Catholic rituals he/she does not believe in. Just tough it out until you are no longer a minor, then make your own decisions about such things. What advice would you give to someone who is a minor, baptized but non practicing Catholic who is more or less forced by his/her parents to participate in occult/ ceremonies.

Quite right. Many of such practices invoving a minor are actionable in a legal sense.I’d want to know more details. How old is the minor? What exactly are they being forced to do? And are they in reality forced or is there someway they can withdraw? I disagree with a former poster to “just tough it out” until they are of age. If this is something that is intrinsically evil and is against the Church and Jesus Christ, the child cannot and must not participate. There must be a way to withdraw or abstain. If they are in physical danger in any way, than they may be able to be removed from these parents and maybe this OP (a family member?) can care for them until they are of age.

The OP doesn’t give enough information to indicate the authorities should be brought in. “Forced to participate in occult ceremonies” could easily be something like attending seances or using a ouija board. If you are in the U.S., get in touch with Child Protective Services as soon as possible.
If elsewhere, contact the organization in your area responsible for child welfare.
So you say. What you haven’t shared with us is how you would advise this person.Wrong advice!
The danger is that some occult practices may open one up to forces that you don’t want in your life. I would advise such a minor to refuse to participate, on the grounds that such practices are against his/her beliefs. But as others have noted, it depends on what is being required and what force is being used. What does “more or less forced” mean? What advice would you give to someone who is a minor, baptized but non practicing Catholic who is more or less forced by his/her parents to participate in occult/ ceremonies.
I would seek out another family member, a grandparent, an aunt, an uncle and see if they can help you. I would also go to mass if possible and see if you could make an appointment to speak to a priest. What advice would you give to someone who is a minor, baptized but non practicing Catholic who is more or less forced by his/her parents to participate in occult/ ceremonies.
Perhaps; you’re right, there’s nothing in the original post that states what the child is being forced to participate in. However, given the menacing nature of occult practices, and the likelihood that practices can escalate into activities that can result in physical harm to a child, there is every reason to be seriously concerned. It’s the spiritual equivalent of playing with fire. A priest who is a friend of a family has more than once encountered very dark, disturbing tales of people, women usually, who come to him seeking healing after either having been subjected to horrible, occult-related activities, or having allowed their children to take part in horrible things–sometimes the women indicate they were coereced. He indicated that sometimes those activities result in “missing children.”The OP doesn’t give enough information to indicate the authorities should be brought in. “Forced to participate in occult ceremonies” could easily be something like attending seances or using a ouija board.
Get to a priest ASAP! Since the op didn’t mention his/her age, only that op is a minor, this is the best advice I can offer. Are the parents’ Catholic and have chosen to dabble on the occult? So you say. What you haven’t shared with us is how you would advise this person.
Yes.Get to a priest ASAP! Since the op didn’t mention his/her age, only that op is a minor, this is the best advice I can offer. Are the parents’ Catholic and have chosen to dabble on the occult?
Would you and your sister be willing to speak to a priest on her behalf? An intervention is needed. As previous posters mentioned, this isn’t something to take lightly.Your friends’s souls is in danger, not to mention the souls of her parents as well!Yes.
This isn’t about me though, or my parents. It’s someone I know. A close friend of my sister, actually. This person doesn’t really seem comfortable talking about their faith, (not sure if this person is agnostic or atheist or just non practicing) so I’m not sure if going to a priest is an option.
I don’t think it’s physically dangerous, the objection to it is because this person thinks it is nonsense and finds it uncomfortable. But my sister and I can’t help but be concerned.
Classy miss. Except there is a huge diffirence between raising young children and disciplining them because Catholicism is moral and teaches moral values and participating in the occult with all it’s superstitions, rubbish teachings and pointlessness. My parents would force me to go to mass with them not because of any social stigma but ebcause they cared about my faith. I wasn’t a devout Catholic but neither was I an atheist and today, I’m glad I’m Catholic and that my dad prayed for me when I left the Church for 3 years. The same advice I’d give to a minor who is more or less forced by his/her parents to participate in Catholic rituals he/she does not believe in. Just tough it out until you are no longer a minor, then make your own decisions about such things.
You’re advice is frankly horrible miss becuase it’s not based on the welfare of a child but on a pervertec oncept of religious freedom and tolerance, so here’s mine. Nobody should be forced to participate in evil rituals like that. They should call child protective services and get the child out of there. The child should be given reasons why he shouldn’t feel guilty because it’s not his fault and told why those rituals are bad. If he says in some way that there is no diffirence ebtween Catholic and occult rituals, he should be told that yes, there IS. There is a diffirence between those two rituals because the Church was found on Christ and His teachings whereas occultism is nothing but a load of mumbo jumbo made up by the satanists themsevles in order to access something they don’t even know exists. Catholicsm teaches discipline and lvoe of God; occultism teaches nothing, leaves no benefits and is pointless. So you say. What you haven’t shared with us is how you would advise this person.
Cool. You have an opinion. I guess that means you’re right. You’re advice is frankly horrible miss becuase it’s not based on the welfare of a child but on a pervertec oncept of religious freedom and tolerance, so here’s mine…
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
