Hello,

I recently got into a discussion regarding why Satan rebelled with my protestant Sister-in-law and brother-in-law. I cited that Satan fell because he foresaw that God would become man and refused to go along would the plan of God because he would have to worship a man. Now this is something I have heard discussed on Catholic resources like Father Chad Ripperger, Father Philip Wolfe and Catholic Answer (above link), however, when pressed for scripture citations or theologians who believed this, I realized I had nothing at my disposal and I am finding it quite difficult to find resources and citations on this. So, here is my specific question:

Where can I find scripture verses, church fathers, theologians, etc, or anything authoritative saying that the reason Satan fell because he was given foreknowledge of the human incarnation of God and rebelled against God because he did not want to worship a man?

—Also, one thing that is confusing to me in light of this, was God’s original plan for God to become man but simply come down and live with Adam and Eve and their descendants, but had to change his plans and not only come down and live with humans but now had to also become a Sacrifice because of Satan’s rebellion and the sin of Adam and Eve. Also, please provide resources on this topic, primary source documents on Church fathers, or Scriptures. Remember, I am trying to explain this to a non-Catholic.
