I kind of suspect this may be a common question about the Sacrament of Confession, but I have to ask anyway.

I went to confession after being away from church for a long time, and I sincerely confessed all the sins I could think of. Assuming the worst (that I had lost grace and was in a state of mortal sin), I confessed a lot.

Everything I could remember, I confessed. But now, after confession, I remember things that I didn’t confess during that particular confession.

Is my confession still “valid”? I have been taking communion since this confession, thinking I had received absolution for everything. Now, after remembering something later, am I profaning the Body and Blood of Christ because I didn’t confess something that I didn’t remember at the time of confession?

Your confession is valid.

However if you forgotten a serious sin it is important to confess it at your next confession.

Venial sins do not have to be confessed, however the sacrament of confession helps you to overcome venial sin and prevent some of them becoming habitual.

God Bless

Not only is your confession valid but the absolution is complete, provided you did not deliberately withhold sins.

On the assumption that you have committed no more mortal sins, you may receive Communion without worrying, even if you have subsequently remembered some sins you’d honestly forgotten to mention at your confession.

Here’s a little tip.

I frequently forget things. At the end of my confession, I find it helpful to use a sentence along these lines: “these and all my other sins [venial ones not all of which you are required to mention by name if there’s a lot] and those which I do not now recall, I bring to the Lord so that I might be freed from their burden and come again into his full embrace”.

The words differ from one occasion to the next, but if you remember such a statement it helps you let go of the guilt of forgetting things because you’re clearly saying you want those things to be taken into account too.

For the avoidance of doubt, you are NOT profaning the Body and Blood of Christ as a result of forgetting to mention something at your confession.

Be at peace.

If you forget then dont worry .In the confessional the priest absolves you of all of your sins. Now if you were afraid to confess something by all means make sure you confess it ASAP .You forgot .When he told you that he absolved you of your sins he absolved you and forgetting is a mistake thats all . Your ok.
