Can anyone please recommend a good book or website that deals with forgiveness and reconciliation within a marriage that needs heeling? I am looking for a book that describes the process one must go through to effectively forgive (which is one-sided) but to also reconcile if the spouse is also remorseful and has changed 100% (making it two-sided).

Thanks!

Dear Journeyman,
Although I don’t know the exact type of forgiveness you are looking to reconcile, there a couple of titles that I researched for you. “Healing your marriage when trust is broken: finding forgiveness and restoration”, by Cindy Beall (2011); “From anger to intimacy: how forgiveness can transform your marriage”, by Gary Small and Ted Cunnigham (2009); “I don’t want a divorce: a 90 day guide to saving your marriage”, by Dr. David Clarke (2009); “Marriage forecasting: changing the climate of your relationship one conversation at a time”, by Tim Muehloff (2010); and, “Marriage matters: Extraordinary change through ordinary moments”, by Winston T. Smith (2010). May God bless you in your quest for forgiveness. We must remember that Jesus forgave those that crucified him, and so we must try also to forgive the hurts we encounter in our lives, in marriage and in other circumstances. It is not easy, but always worth the effort. I will pray for you.

Well, this may be a stretch, “Twist of Faith: The Story of Anne Beiler, Founder of Auntie Anne’s Pretzels.” I haven’t read it, but have read about it.

She had an extra-marital affair and rather than divorce, she and her husband relied on their faith, etc. she asked for forgiveness, he forgave, and their marriage survived.
