In the past, I remember I did something really dumb and hurt someone’s feelings, with the result of them not talking to me anymore. We had been friends, and I felt so guilty later that I tried to make amends with them. I went to confession about it, but am I forgiven if I didn’t make amends? I texted them, but they won’t respond. I want to talk about it, but I don’t know if keeping at trying to talk to them will make things worse or not.

You confessed you sins and I’m sure you received absolution, so please be at peace about that.

You also tried to reach out and make amends. You made the effort. If your friend is still so angry and/or hurt that he/she hasn’t responded, just keep him/her in your prayers and ask for God’s will in this matter to be done.

You obviously feel bad about hurting your friend’s feelings. It is good that you confessed this. It’s even better that you want to make ammends with this person, and tried reaching out. God surely forgives you. He knows you are feeling remorse over this, and wish to be forgiven. The thing is, you cannot make some accept your apology. I would maybe let things cool off for a little while, and then try reaching out to this person again, or maybe write them a personal letter in a card, saying you’re sorry. It’s a lot more personal than sending a text.

I know how this is. But man? You tried. And I mean if you don’t feel settled about this in your heart? Maybe you should do them up a spiritual bouquet. I mean they’ll never know you did it? But you will man.

You will.

Peace.

Sounds like you did what you were supposed to do OP. We all have hurt someone in ways we wish we could take back. Sometimes we can and sometimes we can’t, but we can always pray. Pray for them, for ourselves, for the damage to be mitigated or completely healed. Really, this pain can make us better. The real sad shame is for those folks, who don’t feel pain or regret for those they hurt.

Thanks guys. Your encouraging words really do help. I want to thank y’all from the bottom of my heart 😁😁😁

You can’t force someone to forgive you. Pray for this person for 30 days is what a priest suggested to me for a similar situation. Say a Rosary every day. You may want to continue beyond the 30 days.
