Forgiveness

What does the bible say about forgiveness, in particular someone who just does not care and has turned his or her back/disowned someone, or many people? Should you just avoid people like this, even if you personally forgive him or her?

Matthew 10:16 says we are to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves.

We already know that we are commanded to forgive. And forgive. And forgive… But if it can be reasonably avoided there is no point in making it easy for another person to sin against us. Avoiding people is one kind of a boundary. It won’t be the best boundary in every case but it likely will in some.
