I am normally a forgiving person. But how does one forgive those who are for abortion? Parents, especially mothers, who did the unthinkable and abuse, torture, and even murder their children? As a mother, I get dismayed when I see in the paper about women like Andrea Yates or that other woman, I forgot her name. She put her two kids in the car and drowned them in a lake. Children are gifts from God. I love my kids and I can’t imagine harming them in anyway.
Or how about people who prey on the innocent? They exploit them.

Compassion is the key to forgiving people who do what is unthinkable. Sometimes information helps build compassion. Here’s some information about abortion (from a wonderful book called Forbidden Grief by
Theresa Burke).
  • 70% of women undergoing abortion believe it involves the killing of a human life.
  • In one study of 173,279 women in CA, women who aborted were 154% more likely to die from suicide . Higher rates were most pronounced in the first 4 years after the abortion.
  • Women who abort are 2-4 times more likely to be admitted for psychiatric hospitalization than women who carry to term.
  • Women deal with the pain and guilt of abortion in many ways, including promiscuity (when it did not exist before the abortion), eating disorders, difficulty sustaining relationships with men, hatred (of those involved in the abortion), depression, and substance abuse.
People make mistakes, and pregnant women in unplanned pregnancies are easily led. Information about abortion - what it is, how it’s done, physical and emotional risks - is not provided by abortion clinics because they are there to make money. The abortion people have done a great job selling the lie of abortion, and we should have compassion for those who are taken in by this lie.

You might find it easier to have compassion and forgiveness if you heard some of the stories of men and women who have aborted and regret it. Go to silentNoMoreAwareness.org and watch their testimonials.

I encourage you to speak with compassion about abortion. You may be speaking to someone who has done that and needs healing. Healing comes through our Lord Jesus Christ. Women and men who have aborted need to grieve to heal, and they don’t often get that chance because people find it difficult to forgive. They can’t understand how a woman could kill her own child. You know what, neither can the woman who’s done it.

Educate yourself about the abortion issue and you will find a place in your heart for those who have aborted. You may find that you can, in Christ’s love, reach out to them and help them heal.

The same way Christ forgives you for causing his Passion and Crucifixion!!!

I have maintained that it is almost impossible for a rational mind to wrap it’s self around and ill-rational person or person’s decision to do harm to anyone. That being said, I would suggest you pray for the person and hope no one will hold back forgiveness for your sins… or at least remember, it’s not yours to judge, but it is yours to love others as God loves them. Peace:thumbsup:
