Someone here has posted a one-line prayer that, I believe, goes this way:
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

I’m not sure I’m saying it correctly - or if there is a name to this prayer. Could someone tell me the correct version of this prayer - and its name? Thanks, and
God bless you.

This prayer is called the “Jesus Prayer”

the version i know goes like this:
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner.

but your version is nice too.

i heard that it is supposed to be prayed 600 times a day.

**Many Thanks to Andrushak for that link! 😃
And, whitenight21, ** please advise where did you hear about saying it 600 times a day? And HOW does one keep count? What are the benefits/promises for saying it that many times?
I always thought saying, “The Name of Jesus be praised.” was nice but I really want to get the “Jesus Prayer” right - I wake in the morning saying my Morning Offering and have added the Jesus Prayer to the beginning of my day, since I saw it posted here months ago…(name removed by moderator)ut, (name removed by moderator)ut, please !🙂

There is a little blue book created by MLOR Corporation (Miraculous Lady Of Roses) called Pieta.

MLOR is located on 1186 Burlington Drive, Hickory Corners MI
and their telephone number is (269) 731-4490

I received mine a few years ago, the one i have was published in 2004. But i know that these prayer books are sold in Christian stores, at least they do in my hometown Winnipeg.

On page 33 of this book is under the Jesus Prayer in parentheses:
say 600 times a day.

I encourage you to get this book, it is loaded with prayers and is very good prayer tool.

How do you keep count? With a special prayer rope, CHOTKI or something like that. I’ve seen them for sale in 50, 100, and even 300 knots. But not 600 knots.

I THINK (and may be wrong) that the basic idea is to be praying always, until such time as your mind recites the prayer on automatic, internalized.

I do something like that with the “Glory Be”

Or you could just use your Rosary - all the beads + the crucifix adds up to 60 so you can neatly keep count that way.

Yes i think you may be right, that the point is to pray always.

Okay - now, here’s a little history on me - and how clueless I can be.

For years, I used the Pieta Book - Harry Faulhaber was the gentleman in Hickory Corners (I believe that’s the name, and I think he’s now deceased) who I used to get my Pieta books from (I used to give them to people.) Yes, I’ve gone online and found a number of Christian sites that carry it now. BUT I didn’t know / remember that the prayer was in there ! (Color me DUH ! ) I’ve been wanting to get some new Pieta books since I know what a super, concise prayerbook it is. The last of my books were so dogearred and worn.

AND - that picture of Shrine of Our Lady of the Roses? I’ve been there several times - San Damiano, (not St. Francis’ San Damiano). This is a little village about an hour and 20 minutes outside of Milan. Don’t know if the Pope has made any declaration on this shrine as yet.🙂
