I just received Confession and while I was in there (behind the screen) I was reading from a list I had made. I was shaking because I get nervous about these things and I read some of the sins out of order from how I wrote them. I was absolved and left and as soon as I had begun to say my prayers afterwards, I was still nervous.
I kept feeling like I might have forgotten to say a mortal sin that was written down (because I had been bouncing all over the page) but I was also pretty sure I had said it.
Sooo. I left church still unsure and I won’t be able to get to confession again for 3-4 weeks.
Do I receive Communion this Sunday or should I not and either try and get to confession sooner or wait for 3 weeks and reconfess my other mortal sins as well?

If you left thinking you confessed everything, you are good. Later, if doubts start creeping in, you are still good. Even if you actually forgot something, you are good to go to communion, as long as you mention it at your next confession.

I also strongly urge you to google the ten commandments of the scrupulous, even if you are not scrupulous, it still helps to look at them. My confessor told me about them.

Thank you 2towers and Father. That put me at peace.

Don’t take it too far…this is how the Protestant Reformation started when Martin Luther didn’t ever feel like he had ever confessed every last sin. Apparently his confessor suggested that he confess his need to confess. 🙃

If you forgot to confess a mortal sin in confession, that the confession is valid, and the sin is forgiven.
You probably did confess everything anyway, but if you forgot you’re still fine.

You’re good to go.

I use a list and make sure my most serious sins are at the top. I make sure I go in order. If you are the worrying kind then you have to force yourself to do it that way. But even more importantly you need to learn to have more trust in the mercy of God. God isn’t waiting and hoping you’ll make a small mistake so he can send you to Hell.

Might have forgotten isn’t forgetting. If you aren’t sure you forgot then I think you need to let this go.
