Hi Everyone,
Well, due to a long-forgotten password and a shuttered e-mail address, I am now 1990Domer. You may have remembered that I posted in the past about a toxic MIL situation. Well, she suddenly passed in early January from a massive heart attack. Sadly, my husband was not in regular communication with her, as he had trouble dealing with her passive-aggressive nature. He did communicate to her by letter.
I called her a couple times, mostly to give her updates on very major life events, like when DH lost his job. I debated telling her because, when we had warned her in the past that DH’s job/company were not stable, she would poo-poo us saying that DH’s company would never lay off a dedicated employee with 19 years of service. Well, that was the exact demographic they laid off. She offered us assistance in terms of funds, but we declined.
Well, the day before my DH was to leave for her funeral, we found out that she left money for our son in a trust. We were shocked and her lawyer was rather peeved that we were so left in the dark. Unfortunately, she attached provisions to this trust so that we need to go through a trust officer to have any expenses for my son approved before dispensing. So, we are still feeling a few after effects of the toxic situation. However, at least she known our soul (from whatever vantage point she is at), and we are at peace knowing that.
It’s a shame that my DH’s family is completely severed, but she have forged ahead and made close friends who are like family to us.
My DS made his Confirmation. Archbishop Chaput bestowed the sacrament. He is now discerning the priesthood. If you could please pray for his vocation, I would be most grateful. I’ve missed everyone here.
God bless.
