I had a little sister who died of cancer when I was young, and recently my mother and brother (whose an atheist) both saw something related to her that apparently is indescribable. They both swore to me that they were not hallucinating or lying and I think I really do believe them (I dont live in the same country as them and both called me out of nowhere several times urgently as if someone had died). What they saw was words being written in real time on a mirror in her exact handwriting and there was also a Bible verse being written. Im an agnostic and never in my life would I thought I would have to deal with this and to tell you the truth when I heard about this I started crying, as my atheist brother who hated religion told me he now believes in God. Its all insane to me, but I was wondering if you could give me some advice on where to go with this. I was raised Catholic but abandoned the Church. Could it really have been my sister, after all these years? Or maybe something malignant? They said they were shocked but didn’t feel terrified so I thought that must be a good thing. What do I make of this? Do people really survive the death of their bodies? Im sorry if this completely unrelated to the type of questions that are usually answered here, but since they are not lying I have to deal with this. And this kinda answers my question of whether there is or is not an afterlife. This is life changing. What do you think, was it a ghost? Her soul? A demon? One thing is for certain, there was a clear message so it was undoubtedly a mind. Thank you for any help and God bless.

I suppose it is up to you whether you are ready to hear the message and be moved toward returning to Church or not. That is really all that matters.

I would be willing, of course. But I dont know what to make of this. Im not sure what it means, do ghosts really communicate? I saw a video once where its usually lost souls, but this doesnt make any sense since my sister was very young, she was 11 when she died.

I’m going to assume (as you did) that this event was true. I’d be concerned about the mirror part. Why not a piece of paper or something. Mirrors are used in divination in the occult. And yes “ghostly phenomenon” exist but it is usually not saintly in origin.
You dont give the detail of what the bible verse was.

Whatever happened with your family, to the extent we can judge by the fruit something bears, then if your brother now believes in God and perhaps might return to the church, it’s unlikely that the private revelation he experienced was evil.

You are asking your questions of Catholics here who believe in God and in an afterlife where souls are judged and sent to Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. Our belief in this does not hinge on anybody seeing a vision, or seeing a written Bible verse appear, or any private revelation or paranormal happening. It’s up to you whether you choose to believe also.

Some questions for you:

Did they witness this event in a dream or were they awake?
Did they witness this separately, or did they witness the event simultaneously?

If there are any Catholic priests in the area, I would suggest asking them about it. I’m sure they’d be happy to help you decifer what this means.
