Former homeschooled kids: what do you think of your education in hindsight?

Yeah, it’s not like homeschooling is a set way of doing things. That was something my Mom found out. You can have your kids homeschool and take some public school classes. You can have your students enrolled in college classes when they get into highschool. You can mix and match curriculum. Seton and Mother of Divine Grace can be used at the same time. Don’t know how to teach math? Use an online course.

Homeschooling is not supposed to be rigid. It is supposed to be flexible.

K - 12 here.

My K - 8th grade education was phenomenal. The foundation that was laid from The Calvert School taught me critical thinking, rigorous attention to detail and gave me a leg up throughought life.

Honestly, in high school I was bored out of my MIND because the curriculum (A.C.E.) was so inferior to Calvert.

My ACT scores were in the top 1% of the Nation, the highest score in my testing group. Because of those scores, full ride scholarships and was able test into more advanced college courses.

In one advanced class, I knocked myself out for my first paper. Then, I read some of the papers that others turned in. Next time, I submitted a paper that I’d written in 7th grade Calvert. When that paper received a perfect grade, it confirmed just how solid my educational formation was 🙂

I often introduce myself as an example of a socially akward result of homeschooling. If you knew me IRL, you would realize how ludicrous that statement is. The entire world was our classroom and I’ve always been confident in any social situation.
