MAKE a GOOD Confession ASAP!

Then attend Mass as often as possible BUT at least fulfill one’s “Sunday Obligation”

Pray very much; especially the Rosary. Mary GLADLY welcomes you back HOME. AMEN! [I believe]

IF you’d care to learn more about the Catholic Faith; what we believe and WHY & How we can and do believe it; let me know. I’m a trained Catechist.

Welcome Home

Patrick

Yes, go to confession. Tell the priest how long you have been away Ang how you are eurning. He will welcome you.

Try and attend daily mass if possible. I find it totally different than Sunday. I go as often as I can because it really helps me.

Thank you for your responses, everyone. I guess another problem I am having is I was going into this expecting it to be an instantaneous thing. I would be filled with a huge amount of faith and my life would change drastically. I’m realizing that it is going to be a more subtle thing that happens over time. Through prayer, fasting, going back to Church, and reading scripture. I should be more patient.

Honestly, if you are looking for an instantaneous change, go to Confession!

Yes, it is a process, and everyone proceeds at a different pace. Jesus told the apostles that He had many things to tell them, but that they couldn’t bear to hear them all at once. The same applies to us.

Conversion is a work of a lifetime. It is God’s mysterious, quiet, and often (by our standards) very slow work in us. It requires a lot of patience. Anyone looking for a sudden event or sudden devout feelings really has to know that such things rarely happen (although they can). Just trust in God that the sacraments are enormously beneficial and that, in God’s time and through your patient use of them and your prayer, you will advance in holiness.

I too can experience doubts, but none of them are due to arguments against God. I know of no good argument against the existence of God and I know plenty of arguments for God that make good sense. Taken together I think that reason is on the side of God existing. I’ve truly thought through whether God exists and I am always convinced that He does. The doubts I experience are irrational doubts. They are like any other irrational doubts. They may disturb me, but they aren’t a reflection of a reasonable belief.

I know this expectation and it isnt right as you know. Some people do experience tremendous changes, but that isn’t everyone. The Book of Job is about enduring in faith despite the most difficult hardships.

Curious… I’ve also given it much thought and the only reasons I find for considering that a god exists boil down to human ignorance… and are ultimately traced to ignorance about the origin of the Universe.
As such, I remain unconvinced of the existence of such a being.

Furthermore, a being concocted in a time long ago, when ignorance was a bit more widespread… and also a being which appears to be the culmination of human reasoning upon the unknown: what may have begun with Nature worship and Sun worship, then evolved to polytheism that found, in Mesopotamia, Anu the father of all gods, and eventually monotheism with Yahweh… Should we take a stroll through the god of Israel, El?.. consort of Asherah? El, also known in Sumer as Anu?

Also, if there was really a god… in my mind… there would be no need for any human-based religion. No need for priests, no need for temples, no need for belief… we’d just know… you know?

If you want to debate the existence of God then please go start a thread. You can mention my username and I’ll be happy to address your points there. This thread was started by a person who is asking for help dealing with doubts.

Nah, thanks… not interested in creating “Yet Another does god exist thread”, with the predictable outcome of nothing.
I was mostly letting the OP know that doubts with this regard make sense and pointing out a few more that aren’t usually provided.

Hi Patrick. I sent you a messages a few days ago in reference to the email program you told me about. But I never heard back from you. Could you message me back please? I would like to get involved with the program.
