I think there’s not so much of a double standard as is being suggested here. Most of the people who I know who are OK with fornication are also more or less OK with homosexuality, using the same justifications for both.
You bring up an excellent point which is also supported by scripture.

Romans Chapter One verses 14-32

1:14

To the Greeks and to the barbarians, to the wise and to the unwise, I am a debtor.
1:15

So (as much as is in me) I am ready to preach the gospel to you also that are at Rome.
1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel. For it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth: to the Jew first and to the Greek.
1:17

For the justice of God is revealed therein, from faith unto faith, as it is written: The just man liveth by faith.
1:18

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and injustice of those men that detain the truth of God in injustice:
1:19

Because that which is known of God is manifest in them. For God hath manifested it unto them.
1:20

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made. His eternal power also and divinity: so that they are inexcusable.
1:21

Because that, when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God or given thanks: but became vain in their thoughts. And their foolish heart was darkened.
1:22

For, professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
1:23

And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man and of birds, and of fourfooted beasts and of creeping things.
1:24

Wherefore, God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness: to dishonour their own bodies among themselves.
1:25

Who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
1:26

For this cause, God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature.
Note

God delivered them up. . .Not by being author of their sins, but by withdrawing his grace, and so permitting them, in punishment of their pride, to fall into those shameful sins.
1:27

And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts, one towards another: men with men, working that which is filthy and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.
1:28

And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient.
1:29

Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness: full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity: whisperers,
1:30

Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
1:31

Foolish, dissolute: without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.
1:32

Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death: and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.

For the context I was using for the word ‘homosexual’, I meant it in the form of an active, out of the closet person. Because it is true that it is not specified whether being somewhat attracted to the same sex is a sin or not. BUT, it is clearly condemned to engage in homosexual activity. For “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; such a thing is an abomination.” Leviticus 18:22 Therefore with this, I use the word ‘homosexuals’ or ‘gays’ or whatever you want, to describe someone who is out of the closet, and looking for a ‘partner’. Unfortunately, these people and society as a whole these days tries to break the morals of Christians, Jews, and Muslims, (who all understand that they are subject to this quote under their religion) to break away from their religion and become an out of the closet, active, and sinful homosexual. We are even teaching this in public schools across the nation: To encourage homosexuality and even praise them for they have ‘overcome miraculous civil rights hardships’- according to many public schools. Because as you said, someone who is seeminly in the closet and somewhat attracted to those of the same sex has not committed a sin necessarily, as it is hard to controll who we are attracted to sexually. ( But I do believe we can re-train ourselves to a degree) --comments please!

Isn’t it a bit ironic how many Christians (not only catholics) criticise homosexuality as we all know it is a sin, yet forget to realize their own actions of fornification as sin. While a reletively small population of people are gay, many are Christian and see fornification as no big deal. While It is true we need to teach the word of god and spread the knowledge of the sin of homosexuality, we need not to forget to preach the word of god that neither will fornificators inherit the kingdom of god. 1 Corinthians 6:9

First of all, i don’t believe being Homosexul is a sin. No more then being heterosexul is. My understanding that committing homosexual acts IS a sin, as is committing heterosexul acts outside of a valid marriage is… there are plenty of hypocrits to go around… don’t have to look too far either…Peace!

Sexual relations outside of marriage are sinful, be they gay or straight.

Yes, I know that our young folks are being taught that the only ‘sin’ is not in having safe sex or in getting pregnant but they are being lied to. The father of lies has brought our culture to a very sinful place and these sins of the flesh are touted and even promoted.

But they are an offense against God! We forget that! Our society is trying to redefine marriage and make fornication justified but it never can be.

So many of our young people do not know right from wrong, especially if their parents are involved in adultery and so on. God knows.

But woe to those who lead these youth astray! Our Lord Himself said it would be better to have a millstone around the neck and be tossed into the sea.

St. Paul makes clear that fornicators are not heaven bound. Now, we can temper this with the fact that many do not seem to even know it is a sin in this sinful culture. But you and I know it and we are held accountable.

Our Lady at Fatima said the most souls go to hell for sins of the flesh. This was in 1917! What must be the case now?

Mary, most holy and most pure, pray for us!

Regarding this, I would agree with the following statement by Dr. Julie Harren:

“Desires and attractions are like feelings, they come from deep within us they’re not a conscious choice on our part. So when we say that people chose to feel that way[regarding having same-sex attractions], that’s completely inaccurate.”

That is from the 17 minute video on the homepage on homosexuality101.com/, which I would highly recommend that you and others watch.

Also, as someone who struggles with SSA, and need good companions (although I tend to be rejected), I would like to quote the following:

“Many people believe that being physically affectionate with men who struggle with same-sex attraction will exacerbate their symptoms…Nothing could be further from the truth.” Dr. Steven Donaldson and Dr. Del Thornton

I would say that the temptation to sex outside of marriage, whether heterosexual or homosexual, is indeed a powerful one in most people’s lives at some time or another. The sin involved in failing to resist is essentially the same. However, with a heterosexual, he/she at least has the hope to look forward to that they might have a legitimate relationship and vocation to marriage in which they are allowed to enjoy such pleasures. It must be truly difficult to face such a powerful temptation knowing you must never indulge yourself. The desire to rationalize out a reason why it would be ok would have to be extreme.

we must all pray for those that suffer in this way.

Furthermore, the Bible makes no mention of masturbation, oral sex, or same-sex sex.
Wrong, and this seems to seriously cast everything else you said in to doubt as well.

For contraception and masturbation genisis 38 has the story of Onan.

These bible verses apply to the last thing
Leviticus 18: 22’You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.
Romans 1: 26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,
27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
I see the freedom that God gave me to marry whomever I choose, even someone of the same sex; and the liberty to enjoy that union and all the pleasure of sex it brings.
Hold on there, gay sex is prohibited in the bible. Don’t become a salve to sin.
