the Holy See, with Papal Permission is no longer going to let the U.S. Bishops decide on the translations! It is expected to be out withing 2 years of now! Cardinal Peck of Austraila is the chairman of Vox Clara!
Yes, I wathed an interview on EWTN! Cardinal Peack (by the way he is very orthdox) said so himself. It was very interesting. I am not sure but I think that you can go to www.ewtn.com and find the old films. But it may no longer be posted. It was on the show entitled the “World Over” God bless you in your work towards saintity!
“God come to my assistance; Lord make haste to help me!” (Liturgy of the Hours Opening)
yeah right. there is absolutely no evidence of this in anything B16 has said as pope, or what has come out of the Arinze’s office either. this editor is saying this because he knows this is what his audience whats to hear. he wants you to buy subscriptions to his magazine. i put this in the same catagory as the “universal indult” myth that traditionalist magazines and websites always like to talk about.
B16, as outlined in the spirit of the liturgy, has said that nothing is more destructive to the faithful then a constant altering of the liturgy: in his book, he stated that while the ad orientem posture is advantageous, it is not practical or pastoral to force on the faithful. what he wants is to bring the liturgy back on track by example from faithfully following what has been outlined in the offically promulgated liturgical norms and texts. this is exactly what he has told the leaders of the neocatecumenal way. at most, expect gregorian chant to become more common. but that’s it.
cardinal pell was on ewtn’s world over last week and arroyo asked him about the liturgy. he said the vox clara commission was going to use common sense in implementing JPII’s *liturgicam authenticam *and that they will try to keep the changes to a minimum so not to upset the faithful. and this is comming from someone who is considered very traditional! the head of the usccb committee on the liturgy is ultra-liberal bishop tautman who is totally opposed to *liturgicam authenticam. *
so don’t hold your breath. believe what offically comes out of the vatican and out of B16’s mouth, and not the editor of this magazine who was speaking out of his rear end.
can you show some evidence of this? i believe that the usccb sends their draft to the vox and/or the vatican for approval. they never have had ultimate authority inasmuch as it is recognized or altered by the pope. but paul vi let to much slide with that last translation in my opinion.
It all flows from the liturgy. but it is going to take a grass roots effort to restore it. it aint gonna come from Rome. And unfortunately most people are just to apathetic to even care.
i totally agree. liturgical reform will come from the faithful up to rome and not the other way. not even B16 is willing to change the liturgy as much as me may have liked to.
Either keep the NO, or bring back the tridentine (with possibly some reforms)…but to have a third rite out there, or some sort of hybrid…its just too messy.

Bring back the Tridentine text in English - throw in a latin Our Father and* Agnus Dei*.
I get chills whenever I read the English translation of the 1962 missal.
If I may vent slightly…we don’t need numerous Eucharistic prayers, children’s Eucharistic prayers, pentitential rites, psalm choices, Agnus Dei wordings, etc. Why can’t we have the same wording used in every Mass around the world? I know it won’t happen and I’m sure for good reasons I just can’t comprehend, but this has been going on for sooooo long I would love for Pope Benedict to make a decision, make it universal, and tell the Bishops they have x amount of time to make it happen.
