It is a wonderful idea behind the idea of a fortnight of freedom but when we have politicains such as Biden and Pelosi speaking freely about their beliefs which are contray to the Catholic belief and not one thing is being done by the Cardinals or Bishops concerning there statements, such as publically stopping them from communion, then what is the use?
Where are the Catholic leaders and or leadership in these matters?
Are the lay people just put up with it and say oh well?
The Catholic leaders are, i thought, supposed to be spiritual guides for us, not political hacks!
Why is Rome allowing these so called spiritual leaders to continue what they are doing?
Is the Pope comfortable with this also?
Rome is going after the so called Nuns but not a word about the liberal Cardinals and Bishops in this country.
Be surprised to get an answer to this but I tried.
Thanks

Tons of threads on this topic already.

Excommunication is a bad idea in an election year. The church is growing more united around this front and we may see action after the election. This is not an easy or simple issue to deal with because there are negative consequencess to excommunicating a political leader.

The media loves anti-Catholic stories, imagine how it will be after they excommunicate Pelosi/Biden/etc.

Pray for your shephards.

Kindly,

James

Canon Lawyer Dr. Edward Peters has written in his blog “In the Light of the Law” that Catholics who boldly promote and espouse abortion, premarital sex, birth control, same sex unions and other social ideology that is in direct opposition to the doctrine of Holy Mother the Church, should be refused Holy Communion under Canon 915. He noted that Kathleen Sebelius has already been barred by her bishop. There are others, Joseph Biden, Andrew Cuomo that come to mind. It is the duty of the clergy to bar them from receiving the Holy Eucharist when they exhibit “obstinate perseverance in manifest grave sin.” Yes, we must pray for our shepherds, the priests and bishops who are called to uphold Canon Law and take a stand on these issues.
