Fortune Telling
Are 'Christians" who personally interpret the bible and then try and predict future events based on what they read (in the Bible), Fortune Tellers?
Be careful:** not everyone here, this is more directed at comments I have read here (at CAF) in general and not at every (protestant) Christian. **
My question here is for all of the modern (Protestant) Christian “prophets” today who claim to know future events based on their “own” personal interpretation of the Bible and then go on to tell (preach) to others; what they believe. Are they by definition “Fortune Tellers”?
**People who for instance; compare current world events against was written in the book of Revelations, or any “prophetic” book of the Bible, are they not, by definition, Fortune Tellers and Soothsayers? **
Webster’s Dictionary definitions:
fortune teller
Function: noun : one that professes to foretell future events.
sooth sayer
Function: noun : a person who predicts the future by magical, intuitive, or more rational means.
prophesiers
Function: verb / Inflected Form(s**): proph·e·sied; proph·e·sy·ing
: to utter by or as if by divine inspiration 2 : to predict with assurance or on the basis of mystic knowledge 3 : PREFIGURE, intransitive verb 1 : to speak as if divinely inspired 2 : to give instruction in religious matters
REACH / 3 **: to make a prediction
