I went to Mass today, and we found out that our parish was assigned a day (my birthday, no less!) that we’re supposed to pray across the street from the local abortion clinic with the local Forty Days for Life campaign. Which got me thinking about two things…
First, we talk a lot here about things like traditional devotions, prayer practices, and other such things. There’s disagreements at times, but I think everyone can be in agreement that there’s a lot of babies that could be alive, but never get the chance. A lot of parents who would raise kids right, but we’d never know.
So with this, I propose the following; every regular contributor to this section (and any visitors) post in this thread. Say what you will do for these forty days. It could be a Rosary, it could be fasting, it could be going to a weekday Mass, it could be mortification, it could be extra prayer, it could be a sacrifice of some kind. Let us journey into the desert once more, as Christ did. Let us go there united with this generation of Holy Innocents.
The second thing I thought of ties into what I’ll be contributing. A good friend of mine is big into Pro-Life activism. He does these things called “choice chains”, does Pro-Life workshops, all sorts of stuff. For my birthday, October 4th, he will come with me and for the first time I will be praying in front of the abortion clinic, for the women, for the men, and for the babies. I will also be praying the Crown all forty consecutive days, which will be a hardship because it will require concentration and remembering to do it!
Please all, consider this and consider the power of our collective prayer for this effort!
