Hi! I’m writing an essay that will be discussing foster care and orphans, more specifically the marginalization of the disabled and minority ethnic groups in foster care. I’m wondering if anyone can point me to any easily accessable Catholic sources that discuss this.

Anything the popes said, Catholic charities, articles, quotes from the Bible… that sort of thing.🤷

From another thread, here’s my experience:

RomanitasPapist:
My wife has dreamed of foster caring or adopting since she was in middle school.

My wife and I have only fostered a little boy in the foster-to-adopt program for about 9 months, and CPS took him away from us, alleging we physically abused him by helping him with a wound he got outside and failing to seek immediate medical treatment for the wound’s healing (it was healing perfectly normally!). They also frowned on us for not wanting to put him in daycare, despite his weakened immune system. The ridiculed us for being inexperienced and young, as the boy was our first child. The CPS lady making the allegations essentially said our home wasn’t suited for children, even though another CPS inspector certified our home with flying colors.

CPS is corrupt beyond belief; it’s Marxist to the core, ripping families apart, which is the Marxist goal for making young revolutionaries. CPS has incentives to remove children from their biological parents, transfer them as much as possible when in foster care (3-4×/child is the average!), and to make as many false or true allegations of abuse they can. If they fail to do these things, they “aren’t doing their job” and, since the amount of funding they receive is proportional to the number of children in “the system,” they wouldn’t receive as much taxpayer money the next year. See this and this.

Related: read about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, whose goal is to make children tyrants over their parents, inverting the God-given natural order. See also the documentary [Overruled: Government Invasion of Your Parental Rights (http://www.overruledmovie.com/). ParentRights.org’s motto is: “Protecting Children by Empowering Parents.” CPS’s motto could be: “Protecting Children by Empowering the [Tyrannical] State.”

From the U.S. Supreme Court Decision in the Oregon School Case, June 1, 1925., which Pope Pius XI quoted in his encyclical on Christian Education, [Divini Illius Magistri (http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/p...i_enc_31121929_divini-illius-magistri_en.html):
The fundamental theory of liberty upon which all governments in this Union repose excludes any general power of the State to standardize its children by forcing them to accept instruction from public teachers only. The child is not the mere creature of the State
; those who nurture him and direct his destiny have the right coupled with the high duty, to recognize, and prepare him for additional duties.Another quote from Divini:
Venerable Brethren and beloved children, We wish to call your attention in a special manner to the present-day lamentable decline in family education [homeschooling]
. The offices and professions of a transitory and earthly life, which are certainly of far less importance, are prepared for by long and careful study; whereas for the fundamental duty and obligation of educating their children, many parents have little or no preparation, immersed as they are in temporal cares. The declining influence of domestic environment is further weakened by another tendency, prevalent almost everywhere today, which, under one pretext or another, for economic reasons, or for reasons of industry, trade or politics, causes children to be more and more frequently sent away from home even in their tenderest years. And there is a country [the U.S.?] where the children are actually being torn from the bosom of the family, to be formed (or, to speak more accurately, to be deformed and depraved) in godless schools and associations, to irreligion and hatred, according to the theories of advanced socialism; and thus is renewed in a real and more terrible manner the slaughter of the Innocents.
So, my advice about foster caring:
  • Have a good (preferably Catholic) private family law attorney.
  • Know the in and outs above and beyond what the necessary training teaching you.
  • Have a close social worker friend or be a social worker yourself.
  • If you plan to adopt so you can baptize the child, be sure to take cases that are nearly 100% certain to end in the child being severed from the biological parent(s).
  • Don’t let, if you have a foster boy, him be a boy. (It’s said how CPS encourages effeminacy, but what do you expect from a Marxist government bureau?)
  • “Be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect.” 🙂
  • Prayer and sacrifice is the best, most effective way to help foster children.
There are certainly good CPS workers, but they are very overworked and penalized for actually caring about children. CPS needs reform. Nuns need to operate orphanages again, and the State has got to get out of interference with the Church and family.

May St. Joseph, protector of children, pray for us!

I’m Catholic and I have “minority” foster children. What do you want to know?

The system in every state I know of is broken and aim at accommodating the wants of the parents while ignoring the needs of the children.
