If they are trying to trap you as a ‘hater’, they may show that they are the ones who hate all things Catholic. At least it shows you what you’re dealing with. It also gives you something to fire back at them, their own words.

So if someone asked you a question that could be loaded, what is the best response to not answer the question?

Silence is usually the best answer anyways. If you build a reputation of not talking you could even get off scot free for not saying anything, but I don’t imagine that anyone would consider that type of effort.
