In all likelihood, the Catholic hospital lobby was a targeted location. A “hot spot” for Catholics. Someone is littering those tracts, and I can tell you that they are left without permission of the establishment. Cleaning up garbage is like a random act of kindness. 😃

I’ve been throwing out Watchtower magazines for decades, whenever I find them. I just consider it my Christian duty. 👍
Here’s the thing…If the tract is all scripture why throw out God’s word…Wheat and tares are around us all…They need to hear His word no matter where the location…They Holy Spirit can use one verse that a person reads…Heaven rejoices when a soul comes to Christ…He that wins souls is wise…I sure wouldn’t want to throw something out that may be part of God’s plan for someone…Anyway, I knew I wasn’t the only one who chucked the watchtowers out…Hey I got some bad reactions hand out this is your life and I got good ones also…I’ll only know on the other side how they all fit in His plan…peace to you…

whats a ‘chick tract’ ?? ??
they are little booklets that have the gospel message…(He that wins souls is wise)…Jack Chick has made some with dubious claims in them…There not all bad, as they brought many to Christ…I am one of them…Prots mostly use them to reach souls for Christ…Part of our great commission…

“It’s not our place to judge…” but Scripture does say,
“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.” Mt. 12:30
Against me = against my Church.
Scatters = leads people away from me.
🤷

Earlier today I took my sister to the hospital for her weekly allergy shots, and while I was sitting in the waiting room, I found some Chick tracts in a pile of magazines. I became a little upset, and, unsure of what to do, I hid them under a chair and side table (nobody else was around). I didn’t want to throw them out because that felt like vandalism, but I knew that I didn’t want other people getting the wrong idea by reading them. What made me more upset was that the back of each tract said something like, “Compliments of: Jesus,” and the fact that we were at a Catholic hospital.

Apparently, they had been there in previous weeks, because my sister had read one of them without me noticing on an earlier hospital visit. She saw me getting upset and didn’t understand why (even after I told her). But I think she read just one, something about a girl trying to decide whether she wanted to go to a party and the devil was trying to tell her what to do. So I guess this one wasn’t blatantly anti-Catholic, though it seems a-C sentiment is usually slipped in subtly.

What should I have done? Now that I think about it, hiding the tracts seems childish. Should I have thrown them away or just left them with the magazines?
shred them

I was the first gd for my grandmother and, as a result, I was the one who got to go on
fun trips like downtown. There were JWs on all the street corners. She would
take the Watchtower from all of them and then she would throw them in the nearest
dumpster after tearing them up. (making sure no JWs could see.
It is an example I have emulated ever since with the Watchtower, Chick tracts and other
“Christian” literature that misrepresents the Bible or Catholic Doctrine. (Some of those
that come to mind are little booklets of why we were not to call “no man Father” And
it had a picture of a priest on the cover.
Misleading a person is more likely to delay someone from finding Truth than to lead them
to it. If someone wants Scripture rightly interpreted, ask the expert, the Catholic Church.

That’s a shame to throw out the gospel message…It’s how christians share their faith and fulfill the great commission …Was it an anti catholic one…My spiritual life was started by a tract called "this is you life’’ … I 've literally handed out hundreds of the same tract…I put them with the mags when I went to the doctors and dentists…Some Catholics have started their spiritual journey from them…They Holy Spirit started working from those verses I read in that booklet… .Wasn’t much later me and my druggie coworker had pretty radical conversion experiences…We started telling our coworkers about Christ’s plan of redemption…They wondered what happened to us…Anyway I know he came up with some strange things God can work in the midst of it…I wouldn’t doubt many come to Christ through his tracts and he is a good candidate for a “soul winners” crown… Now to be honest, I will throw out JW and mormon tracts…Really be careful what you pitch…Just because it isn’t Catholic doesn’t mean God can use His word to change a life…peace to you…K

BTW Here are more Chick threads…Never knew he was so popular here…

Why on Earth would we want to keep Chick Tracts around at a CATHOLIC hospital?:confused::confused:

Ok, so suppose I got a cute little booklet all filled with God’s written word. And in it, I told the story of the **evil **Martin Luther and how the devils are dancing around him in joy? And I also tell the story of Jimmy Schwindler, who became a ‘non-denom’ pastor and is telling his flock the ‘prosperity gospel’ and does so solely to get money to live ‘high’? And other stories about how protestant pastors have a secret computer and are waiting to ‘take out’ the Catholics. . .

You shouldn’t have **any **problems with these tracts being handed out all over to Protestants, Hiskid. After all, they’re full of "Scripture’. Any little ‘problems’ about Protestant teachings and beliefs being presented falsely shouldn’t matter to you a bit. After all, God will sort this all out. . .

Hey, any Catholics want to fund me on these booklets??? I’ll call myself “Jackie Henn”. . .

There are people who need Christ all over. What message did the apostles share…Where is that message found…It was never said if it was the scriptures or just a Catholic focus…What do I use to be a soul winner…Scripture…Remember God’s word never returns void wherever it’s printed…The Holy Spirit works on the reader…

Only if you have them distributed in hospitals, churches, and service places worldwide! And remember, DON’T GET OFFENDED! I am sure someone, somewhere, will turn to Christ because Jackie Henn said so.

LOL, thanks Heather.

Seriously, I think that what Hiskid is missing is the fact that what he is basically espousing is "the end justifies the means’. And that just isn’t right. We don’t do evil so that good may come of it. There is simply no excuse–ever–to do something wrong and then claim that since something ‘right’ came about that somehow the wrong is justified.

It is as likely (if not more so) that, as I believe another poster mentioned, Hiskid came to Christ not ‘because’ of Jack Chick but ‘in spite of’ Jack Chick.

Had Hiskid come into a Catholic Church and sat down and listened to Mass, read the missal etc., he’d have heard (and seen) Scripture. . .and it would have been presented without the lies and distortions of Mr. Chick. IOW, Hiskid could have just as easily “found God” in the Catholic Church–or through reading his Bible ‘plain’, or even through a website like this–a website without lies or distortions–and wouldn’t that have been ultimately better? If I were offered a choice between having a Bible given to me in a nice clean wrap, and having a Bible given to me wrapped in thorns, smeared in dirt, and (once I finally, at the cost of much toil and labor, found to be missing pages or smudged to illegibility) which would I prefer? Just because they are both Bibles does not mean that one would not be ‘better’ than the other, and more ‘profitable’ to me. . .

I never said he was without fault …Which one of us makes mistakes in our effort to share and live for Christ…Do we throw out the good with the bad…When we stand before the Lord as believers in our judgment for our works…I’m pretty sure some us will have some ash in there as we all aren’t 100% obedient…We’ll give account for our words and deeds…Hey ,say what you want of him, I’ll step out of this…peace to you…

What he did or didn’t do wrong will not be forgotten…He will give account…

Peace Be With You, too.

An analogy, if you will, would be someone supporting Planned Parenthood. Yes, they are the only means of women’s care in some parts of the world. But does that mean that we should continue to support them because they do SOME good, but they DO evil in the forms of abortion? NO! Absolutely not! We don’t need to support this evil organization.

And, honestly, why should we Catholics support this man? He has ridiculed us and made a mockery of our Church! I hope you can understand where our outrage comes from.

I understand…I’ve been walking with Christ for almost 40 years…Over the time I have heard plenty of peoples thoughts about Martin Luther…😉

Hiskid,
It was the false teaching in the Chick tracks that led me away from Christ’s True Church on earth. I wish to God that I had those 20 lost years back and never went the protestant route. I lost so much. I believe that God can and does use all things for the good to those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. However I also believe what Scripture says about those who lie. Chick tracks are filled with lies that lead people AWAY from Christ’s true Church.

Earlier today I took my sister to the hospital for her weekly allergy shots, and while I was sitting in the waiting room, I found some Chick tracts in a pile of magazines.
I had a similar situation that I faced, though it was in my university’s restroom (of all places.) It was next to the soap dispenser.
Should I have thrown them away or just left them with the magazines?
Knowing how Anti-Catholic his tracts are, I threw them in the trash with great pleasure. Judging by some of the responses given I shouldn’t be too worried about what I did. Though I’m not sure if my reasons behind doing so where so Christian…I spat on the tract and then threw it in the trash, hoping that I somehow ‘defiled’ it. Is what I did inappropriate?
