On this feast of All Saints, I ask everyone to pray for those who feel it necessary to slander founders. Slander and the destruction of a person’s reputation is actually mortal sin.
The only way to find vocations is to advertise. The Church expects the founder to be the promoter and therefore it is their responsibility to advertise. The Church has also said not to be afraid of new charisms.
I have been slandered by another public forum. Due to a misunderstanding between me and one person, and lack of information regarding my internet moniker on the part of a third party, I have now been deemed a “pretender.” This incident happened 6 years ago, but unfortunately, it has risen its ugly head, again.
So, please, don’t slander founders. Many advertise with only an idea without having developed the way of life on their own. This may or may not be the correct course to take. In my situation, I have the ideas, but it will be up to the seed vocations (a phrase used by Fr. Gambari in his book on founding orders) to fill in the blanks, and live the life “ad experimentum.”
My organization presently has movement where our charisms are concerned. I have only three moving at the moment – the Cloisterites (a hermit and a cenobite); the Charity charism (the two seed vocations begin “ad experimentum” in 28 days); and the Gilbertine Renewal/Restoration. All begin as their own third orders.
All of the proposed charisms are now part of the Charity charism, with the obvious exception being the Cloisterites and the Gilbertines.
My Chancery receives an annual report on both my base organization’s activity and our new foundations. If anyone has a problem with what I’m doing, you can email Msgr Mauricio West at chancery@charlottediocese.org He now knows my internet monikers.
Blessings,
Cloisters
