These women say they want their children back. I think the children should be given back after:
  1. Each woman goes through mandatory de-programming until totally free of the cult’s hold over them;
  2. DNA testing on the children and mothers to assure that each woman gets only her own child/children;
  3. Housing is found for each woman and child/children, far from each other (preferably spread out over the 50 states), so they cannot set themselves up again in a solitary “compound” setting; and
  4. Strict monitoring by the local Bureau of Child Protection agency.

After 1900 the mormans started a process of maintstreaming so as to be more palatable to the rest of America. Over time, they actually blended in pretty well. But the FLDS is like a time capsule, you might say. Frozen at year 1900, they look and act much like Mormons looked and acted in the bad old days of Bloody Brigham.

Oh, my goodness…I never thought about it like that, but I think you are on to something!!
I had always been bewildered by the fierceness of the gov’t crackdown against the LDS back then. It seemed…over the top. But when you say this, I have to admit that if this is what the people of that time were thinking, when they looked at the earlier version of Mormonism, I can understand it better.
Because you know, I was always a little confused at why a smallish group of people in what was then the back of beyond, practicing polygamy (among, as I assumed, consenting adults)…🤷 …You know?
But if this is what the 19th century LDS appeared like, it makes sense…I think you may be on to something.

A Colorado Springs woman is being investigated as a “person of interest” in connection with telephone calls made to a Texas crisis center before authorities there raided a polygamist retreat, officials said Friday.

Rozita Swinton, 33, was arrested Wednesday by Colorado Springs police on a misdemeanor charge of false reporting to authorities. The arrest was related to an incident that occurred in Colorado Springs in late February.

What I wonder was if she did it so someone would finally rescue the children from the abuse.
 
it will take quite some time for the facts of this to be developed and we can probably expect that, because minors are involved, not all facts will be revealed publically.

i will say this: the Texas Rangers and other law enforcement are top notch people, very professional. Ever since the Warren Jeffs case, they have been at work on this. it didn’t just pop up overnight with a bunch of local sherriff deputies flying off the handle. this is a case that has been worked for years. law enforcement and prosecutrs, and undoubtedly the feds since this crosses state lines, have been working this thing. i’d bet my butt that they’ve got all the evidence they need, and that it is rock solid.

I hope you’re right. It would be tragic for those girls to be sent back to that child rapist’s paradise because of a technicality.
 
A false accusation, made by someone who has a history of making false accusations, is not a technicality.
 
What I would like to know is if there are any pictures of the inside of their temple. It sounds SO strange, especially with the revelation that there was a bed inside the temple to consummate those spiritual “marriages”. :eek: Does anyone know if photos have been released of the inside of their temple, or if any were taken?

And ITA about the brainwashing of those women. That’s the fine ideology of “Keep Sweet” for you. :rolleyes: :mad:

They are currently investigating the facts. If a 13 year old is pregnant by an adult than a crime has been committed regardless of how they found out about it.

This is what irks me. How many underage teens are impregnated every year all across America? Think of all the scandals of teens being raped and then driven to PP to get an abortion. I guess either because they had an abortion so there is no kid or because they put the kid up for adoption, nothing happens.

Nevertheless, what a double standard! Teens all over America are impregnated, but because they dress, act, eat and talk the way they are supposed to, they don’t get raped by our criminal justice system.

Totally heated up over this issue. How can no one put aside their emotions over the particulars of this case to see what is going to happen to us!

That is because those kids do not get impregnated under a system of deliberate, ritualized coercion and abuse.

The difference is pretty stark to me, I don’t understand how others can’t see it. These young girls are “assigned” to men who are decades their senior and then forced to have sex with them in the name of the Lord. How is this defensible?

So because some 20-something seduces a 13yr old, rapes her and then drives her to the clinic and pays for an abortion, this is therefore less reprehensible and deserving less attention? And when those abortion clinics help the 20-something rapist cover up his actions so he can continue his “relationship” with the 13yr old, we should just look the other way because it isn’t in the name of the Lord?

This is the government picking and choosing. When all of this settles, I wonder what the reason will be behind this.

So basically, you’re fine with children raised to believe they are nothing more than cattle, and being assigned to 80-year-old men to be raped and impregnated as young teenagers. You’re fine with young boys, some as young as 12 or 13, thrown out of their families and communities with nothing but the clothes on their backs, because they represent a threat to the older men as far as obtaining women. You’re fine with all of this, and you’re outraged that the State of Texas is investigating this cult, as long as abortion isn’t involved.

Oh please, nice way to avoid the argument. Just because it’s easier to hate some people over other people doesn’t mean the government should be allowed to do whatever they want.

The way I see it, you think these people are crazies, you dislike their religion and their practice of it, so they got what they deserved IYO.

Well, others have done horrible things as well, but because they eat, talk, dress and act like you and me, they don’t get bothered by the government.

Basically, I am not FINE at all with the way everyone is sitting back and letting the legal procedure of our criminal justice system go out the door.

Child abuse and statutory rape are obviously against the law. “Hate” doesn’t enter into it.
