of the Pope’s death.

How refreshing. I just saw Jimmy Aiken. Yesterday Jason Everet. Fr. Rutler, Jeff Cavins. Folks from Scott Hahn’s St. Paul Institue. Bishop Chaput and the Bishop of Lincoln Nebraska have also been featured.

I am so used to the network news featuring dissenters. In fact, MSNBC and CNN are mainly featuring Fr. Drinan and McBrien and other dissenters and already doing a lot of stuff on how the church must change.

Only wish the folks from Catholic Answers and other orthodox groups were on the other news networks.

Still, its great to see such a string of solid, orthodox Catholics featured these past few days on Fox. Sometimes I wonder if these new orthodox groups are making a difference as I have seen no changes for the better in my diocese but seeing them on Fox does give me hope.

They have also featured Fr. Owen Kearns, publisher of the National Catholic Register.

It’s going to backfire on CNN and MSNBC. They have been loosing viewers to Fox for years, now their going to lose a lot more Catholics. They are so stupid! 🙂

During the Terri Schaivo tragedy I sent FOX an email chastising them about their use of dissenting Catholics/priests, even expriests. I told them it was a form of Catholic bias. I told them that it was bad enough being criticised for being Catholic in this world when the person speaking was actually representing real Catholic doctrine, but how could we even begin to get an accurate portrayal when all they brought out the disgruntled people. I was very mad and I hope I wasn’t the only one complaining.

Geraldo on Fox News just had a great discussion on sexuality and the Church with Dr. Janet Smith, a priest from the Lumen Institute and Fr. Berrg. All very orthodox in their presentation. Someone from North Dakota called in representing the Theology of The Body Institute (?) and gave a great summary of why marriage should be between a amle and female only.

Hope Fox is beating MSNBC and CNN in ratings tonight as Fox has had some great orthodox guests on.

Also, Senator Sam Brownback and his conversion story.

I just saw that segment and the priest from the Lumen instute is Fr. John Conner, LC, by the way. The call-in guest was Christopher West, of Theology of the Body fame.

I loved how Geraldo kept trying to stir the pot. He couldn’t get any disagreement among the panelists so he played ‘devil’s advocate’, as he put it. It cracked me up. What about birth control, what about women’s ordination, what about same-sex marraige. I kept waiting for him to say something like: “don’t you guys dance around an open fire while sacrificing a virgin?”

People just absolutely, postively, beyond a shadow of a doubt, without a scintilla of thought, do not understand in any way, shape, or form, that Catholic doctrine is not up for debate. They keep looking at the Church through their politically-tinted, Protestant shaped glasses and cannot see the Holy Spirit working through the Magesterium.

I was just watching Fox News also. Tremendous lineup of Catholics representing orthodoxy.

I, too, am sick and tired of listening to the crud on MSNBC and CNN with respect to the potential for a ‘new’ direction for the Church. This ‘new’ direction typically means the Church changing its position on homosexuality, women’s ordination, stem cell research, artificial contraception, etc. The heterodox are really coming out of the wood work.

In Christ,
Irenaeus

I knew it!! I think I can now tell a LC priest about 5 seconds after tehy open their mouth! You can really see how much they love their vocation. God bless these wonderful, holy men!

This segment was great. I have to say in Geraldo’s defense that he was nice about it and kept a smile on his face. He really let them go to town and explain their beliefs. I was so glad that he didn’t have a Crossfire type segment with an opposing point of view guest because there were no shout downs. These Catholic scholars came off as being very knowledgable and reasonable. I hope Fox keeps up the good work.

I have to totally agree with everyone on Fox. Besides EWTN, I haven’t seen a better line up of good, holy, true Catholic’s anywhere else.

I hope this is the start of folks from Catholic Answers and other groups like thge St. paul Center and Catholic League being regulary featured on Fox. I’ve e-mailed them thanking Fox for an interesting and thought stimulating lineup. Janet Smoith was great too.

Now if only CNN and MSNBC would follow their lead. This is really the first time I’ve seen Catholic guests from the “new groups” featured. These outlets need a balance.

I’d love to see Scott hahn on asa counter guest to McBrien. That would provide for an honest debate.

BTW, I’ve e-mailed my local talk station and encouraged several hosts to bring on guests from groups like Catholic Answers to discuss the conclave.

In Geraldo’s defense, he has been exceptionally even-handed and, as a host, had to play the devil’s advocate as he said. I really sense he is genuinely enjoying the discussion.

I know Geraldo has a big ego and all but I can’t help but like him.
