I am not sure what this poll tells us, since it is quite clear that there is not one person on the face of the earth that really knows what will happen to the economy over the next year. There are a lot of people with opinions, all of which we should weigh very carefully, since many people with opinions have an axe to grind.

Those who are older might remember Howard Ruff, who was telling people to buy gold at precisely the wrong time.

“Those of us who place a high value on human liberty … find ourselves in a minority (and it sometimes seems a hopeless minority) in ideology… We are the true adherents of liberty… We are the ones who believe in limited government, in the maximization of liberty for the individual and the minimization of coercion to the lowest point compatible with law and order. It is because we are true liberals that we believe in free trade, free markets, free enterprise, private property in the means of production; in brief, that we are for capitalism and against socialism…”

Henry Hazlitt

Do you hold a different view?
I understand Capitalism but what we have here is a lack of responsibility. Whatever our station in life, we are, or should be, responsible. The driving principle today seems to be: “There’s no such thing as too much money.”

I don’t begrudge anyone who has worked his way to millions, but there are those in “power” who live in a world that is free from want and out of touch with the rest of the world. Are we more concerned about “I got mine and to heck with everybody else”? I can’t help but notice the sense of responsibility felt by people Like Jefferson and Lincoln.

Certain financial firms are paying bonuses to their people so they won’t ‘lose’ them. Where are they going to go? China? That other investment firm that’s giving out even bigger bonuses down the street? And even if the latter were true – everybody can’t work at the same place – unless there is massive job growth going on today in the financial industry.

Limited government? I say more personal responsibility no matter where we find ourselves.

God bless,
Ed

Mary says that we are more evil than at the time of Noah! I think that all our financial problems in this country started with disobedience of God’s laws. The government and big business now make up their own rules as they go along. I have the promise of God that evil will be destroyed, but first the world, including us, must suffer.

I have always thought that the collapse of the dollar and most of the world’s currencies would come about because of our love of money, instead of love of God. The dollar is an invention of man, not God. Anything that man creates can be destroyed by man.

You are now watching the final destruction of the dollar. Believe it! I have been watching the destruction of the dollar for 40 years. Pray, pray, pray and go to confession and daily communion. This cultural war is a spiritual war. However, the spiritual war also has temporal repercussions. Try to understand macro economics and then do what you must to protect yourself and your family. The government and big business are not your friends.

A Fox news, er propaganda, poll has zero credibility…Fox news is NOT a news organization.
Unless you can demonstrate this to be true, it is purely your opinion. I, for one, find them a great deal more balanced and professional than CNN, MSNBC, etc., although clearly tilted to the right in terms of talk shows.

The entire media establishment completely abdicated its credibility by not vetting Obama or any of his cronies; what little credibility they had after the previous 8 years of anti-Bush propaganda.

I’m not claiming that FOX is perfect, or that Bush was above reproach, or that Obama is Satan – but FOX has been far more reliable than anyone else.

And I used to feel the same way you do, until I paid attention to what was going on.

Peace,
Dante
