It looks like Fr. John has another barn-burner series on EWTN, about the subject of people who have left the Church.

Uncharacteristically, I was too tired to watch it, so I had to tape it.

He hit my nail on the head when he said the first way to drive people out of the church is to mess with Church doctrine.

That’s why I stopped going to Mass.

He said that there are no good reasons to stop going to Mass or leave the church. I tend not to agree with him (yet). I surely didn’t want to stop going to church. I almost decided to go back this week, but some more mind-bending errors came out and stopped me in my tracks.

Hi Crumpy,

I’m not sure of the exact errors you’re referring to, but I’ll bet you anything you aren’t the only one who notices or is concerned by them (valid or not, whatever the errors are.)
But you are skipping mass alone. There has to be people out there who see what you see but haven’t bailed on the Church.
Don’t you think you’re only cheating yourself if you let these things keep you from mass? (And thus in a state of mortal sin?)
 
Crumpy… please don’t allow the mistakes that are sometimes made (by all us humans!), to keep you away from Mass and the practice of our Faith. Because in the end, you will be the loser here. You are missing opportunities to unite yourself with Our dear Lord, in the Sacraments. God bless.

The devil cheers when he can convince someone to deprive themselves of the Eucharist. That’s why he puts the fallcy in peoples’ minds that when a priest or a Church member is a hypocrite, you should leave. When in reality, it’s Mr. Devil who is working both of you against each other.

Go to confession and get back to communion and receive Jesus Christ and tell the devil where to go with his fallacious “logic.” 🙂
