I love Fr. Corapi. I could listen to him all day. But, I admit to being a little bit uncomfortable with his web page. It seems… weird… that the URL is his name. And, it makes me uncomfortable that there is so much selling on it. The home page is pretty much a catalog: it’s not like there’s a “merchandise” page that is separate. He sells a lot of books and CD’s, and they’re not exactly cheap. Now, he’s selling subscriptions for a series of weekly talks you can download. I know he gets paid to do speaking engagements, and the venue sells tickets.

I realize that what he does costs money. But, I wonder about how the math adds up. I’d be very surprised, indeed, if he were actually living a lavish lifestyle. But, I worry about how it looks. What might a sceptical non-Catholic think? How does he appear any different than an evangelical huxter?

Does anybody know more about his ministry and what the money is used for?

Thank you!

I was downloading some of Fr Corapi’s talks here (for free) and decided to look up his own site. I had exactly the same reaction – I thought there would be at least a free podcast to subscribe to!

BUT – I don’t know anything about Fr Corapi specifically and keep in mind that authors and other well-known people often are not in control of the marketing done in their name.

That always bothered me about his site too…all sell, sell, sell. I know they need money, but it seems “cheesy”. (Even the emails.) And you get so many if you sign up!
But after mulling it over, I realized I didn’t have to buy anything, there were other sites, EWTN, Franciscan Friars of the Renewel and many others, I could get spiritual help and give when I can, but wouldn’t feel like I was giving to a tele-evangical site.

If you want Fr. Corapi’s conversion story for 1.00 (or more if you would like to give more) the Mary Foundation at www.catholicity.com has a CD. I got his and about 3 others which were good.

Thanks for that link, btw - I was looking for podcasts, too!

Tomorrow I’ll post a link on my blog for podcasts. In addition to all the good Catholic folks at www.sqpn.com, I should be able to point you to about 30 more Catholic podcasts.

Oh, and as for Fr. Corapi – I don’t believe he receives anything from the Church. IOW, he relies on his sales (mainly internet) to eat, if I understand correctly. Personally, I think he’s worth supporting – though that won’t stop me from posting every free thing of his that I can find!

This is Father’s ministry…he is taken care of by them and they, like many orders, take the money made by their brothers, priests, etc. and run the monastary. I know Father mentioned having a small home in the woods somewhere, far away, (a priest mentioned to him it was too secluded) but he loved it. He hunts, has his dogs, etc. Maybe that’s his hermitage he talks about.

If all his earnings are going to his religious order/community, that doesn’t bother me. Like I said, I would have been very surprised to hear that he was living the high life or something.

It’s really just the appearance of things… some sort of explaination of what the money is used for would be good, I think.

That is his name so it should not be a problem. I know that he is not using his own name to glorify himself. Fr. Corapi talks about glorifying God not himself.
I’m sure he uses his name on the website because it is so much easier to find all his CDs and DVDs. Please don’t make Fr. Corapi out to be something he is not. His motives are all good. He wants to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and so he wants to make it easy for us to find all his CDs and DVDs.

Fr. Corapi does not use the money for himself. He said himself about how he was once poor, then a millionare, then poor again in his priesthood. He took the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. Shame on whoever thinks he is using the money for himself.

Who cares how he “looks” to others. He certainly does not care how he “looks” to anyone. If he is not worried then why should you?
11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and
persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against
you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward is great in heaven, for so they
persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Mt 5:11-12

You shouldn’t have to worry if Father is persecuted.

Shame on you for saying such things about a Catholic priest. Where is the respect?

You are judging here and that should not be. Where is your faith in Father Corapi? I believe in him. We already know his life story. He already lived the “high life” and lost it all. Why would he want to go back there?

As I said in my previous post, Fr. Corapi does not care how he “appears” to others. Those of us who know the TRUTH of which Father Corapi speaks are not worried because we know what Jesus said about those who are persecuted for His sake.

If we start worrying about how Father Corapi looks, our faith will not show to others. We have to show that we believe in the words that Father Corapi speaks. Otherwise our faith will be questioned. So please have faith in Father Corapi and stand for what is TRUTH! As Fr. Corapi always says, “the TRUTH is not something, it’s someone and that is Jesus Christ.”

:yup: Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity! If you click on “Links to other SOLT pages” you will see a link to Father Corapi’s website. 👍 So if it’s okay for the society, then it should be okay for you. 😉

Father Corapi loves us all. And that is why he wants to tell us the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the TRUTH so help him God!
He says he loves us, he wants the best thing for us and that is HEAVEN. How do we get to Heaven?! With the TRUTH because the TRUTH will make us free! So let Fr. Corapi continue to preach the Truth to us. Let the sales continue on his website so that others can see & hear his talks.
He says he prays for us all the time. He places us in the Immaculate Heart of Mary! What better place, next to Jesus can you ask for?! ❤️ Where ever Mary is, there is the Holy Spirit! And you know where ever the Holy Spirit is, there is Jesus Christ! 🙂

AlegraFe, I think you misunderstood me. I said that I would have been very surprised to hear that there was actually anything amiss. So, you shouldn’t have told me “shame on you for thinking like that about a priest.” You were presuming too much about what I was thinking.

That said, I don’t think you can actually say “So-and-so is a very holy priest and to even question anything they do is wrong.” He certainly strikes me as a very holy priest. I believe he has a special charism from God to evangelize. That’s why I was at his web site to begin with.

I just think that his website is a little disappointing - there is very little content on it. It’s all merchandise.

That the money goes to his order is perfectly A-OK with me. Didn’t you see where I said that?

Why did you read what I wrote in such a selective way?

One more thought, it does cost to produce, press and package CDs and DVDs - no big record/movie company paying those costs for this and other ministries. Same for books, these small pressed book printers do not come free.

Well, my wife listens (and supports) Relavent Radio. She likes Fr. Corapi. However, when she asked for his Sweet 16 CD set I know she had no idea it would be $200! She’d never ask for something that expensive. I love my CW stuff and some of that barely covers the cost of mailing let alone production.

I’m hesistant to pay that much for a talk. Anyone have the Sweet 16 CD’s? Or know of someone who does? I would like to know if they are worth it. but then, how does one judge this, anyway?🤷

$12.50 per CD is not a bad price.

I have two friends who’ve purchased Ft. Corapi’s 16 CD set, and felt the set is well worth the pricetag.

well, actually it’s $205 for 32 CDs… $6 each!👍

I think you should stop pre-judging Fr Corapi. If he were to read what you wrote, he wouldn’t be very happy. In fact, he would outright reject it. Unless you have first hand, personal knowledge of him, I would counsel you to stop inflating who he is.
