As one reads some of the posts in this forum, the words of Fr. Groeschel come to mind –
Ominous words of Fr. Benedict Groeschel in his recent interview with ITV: (Feb. 2005 issue):
Q. What do you think is the crisis in the church today:
Fr. Groeschel: The crisis comes from the fact that the Church is enmeshed in the culture. The Church as a “soul” has to have a “body” to live in, so the problems of the culture become the problems of the church.
The only time the church leads is when it is persecuted. When the church is persecuted it parts from the culture. It changes…"
"The church does much better when it is persecuted, and it will be. There’s going to be the confiscation of Church property. We do better with persecution, and I’ve warned the brothers and sisters. We always wear our habit wherever we go, but somebody will rip it off our backs before long. I won’t see it, but the kids will see it. They’ll be Catholics who are cheering them on, who do it.
