It is with the greatest confidence in the merciful love of God that we announce the passing of our dear brother Fr. Kieran Kavanaugh OCD, who was called from this life early this morning.

For those not familiar with Fr Kavanaugh, he along with Otilio Rodriguez, OCD, translated the Works of St Teresa of Avila, and St John of the Cross, for ICS Publications.

For OCDS members, Fr Kavanaugh was a giant intellectual.

I know an OCD hermitess who had him as spiritual director. His usual advice was, “Deeper. Always deeper.”

I ask him to intercede for the 1990 Carmels who wrote interaction with the friars out of their rule. Such is one of the unfortunate realities with the Discalced Carmelite nuns today.
