Fr. Lasance Missal

I want to buy the Father Lasance missal for my husband but I can’t seem to find anyone that has them in stock. Anyone know of an online retailer that carries it? I’ve googled extensively and the only place I found it was not available.

They do have it but the 60 dollar one is only in fair condition and the only other one they have is 150.00 and the condition doesn’t look great either, and it’s more than I’m willing to spend.
 
I don’t want the St Andrews, I have the set of 4 and it’s not comparable. I’m really looking for the reprint Lasance, I got one as a gift and my husband has admired it so I’d like to get him his own. I’d take a vintage one if it was in good enough condition and not over 100 dollars.
 
When I type ‘lasance’ as author and ‘missal’ as title in Abe, there’re quite a few results. What’s the exact version you’re looking for?
 
My local Catholic store has a good number of them. Say the word and I’ll buy one for you and send one your way!

I’m looking for the daily missal, mine is the 1993 reprint from Christian Book club of America, titled The New Roman Missal in Latin and English by Rev. F. X. Lasance which is a reprint from the 1945 copywrite.

I was hoping I could just find one myself but since it’s proving difficult I am going to ask the person that gave it to me if they got it locally or know where I can get one. Since it was a gift I was reluctant to do that. It was brand new and never used.

I am looking for at least three copies of “The New Roman Missal” by Father Lasance in that leather-type binding. If anyone knows where I can get them, I would appreciate your telling me.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I am looking for a new Traditional Latin Missal. I had a missal by Fr. Lasance, but recently moved and left it with a family member. My preference would be to find another Fr. Lasance Missal, so if anyone has any new leads, please let me know. Thanks!

Also, I found this site (traditionalcatholicgoods.com/?page=shop/flypage&product_id=48&) that appears to sell them, but I don’t know anything about it, if it’s safe, legitimate, etc. I tend to be a cautious online shopper, so I may look around a bit and see if I can find one elsewhere…

It also states that it is back in print, so changes are pretty good that the above link you posted is reputable. However, I would probably seek to call the company before placing an order.
 
There seems to be a demand for this missal. What do you all like about it and how is it different from the Angelus Press 1962 missal for example?
 
There is a whole section in the front of the missal for studying the mass. Also there are drawings of the priest and what he does accompanying parts of the Ordinary and Canon of the mass, which is helpful for those having a problem following along, for instance if the priest happens to pray it quietly. It’s easier to catch up. The Latin and the English are in the same sized font. The Angelus puts the Latin in a smaller font in many places. The Lasance does not include all the prefaces for the dedication of a church, the dead ect ect in the middle of the Ordinary so there are less pages to flip past. Also the prayers after low mass ( the Salve Regina and St Michaels) are right there on the next page after the last Gospel which is convenient. There is a section on accounts of lives of Saints and Feasts in the back with a description of them.

The Angelus has a better table of contents and I like it’s section in the front on prayers and devotions. It’s also a 1962 missal while the new Lasance is a reprint of his 1945 missal.

When I first started going to the EF I had problems keeping up and losing my place with the Angleus missal. I could catch up at certain places, like the Credo or Sanctus but I’d often lose my place again. The Lasance missal really made it easier.

I like them both, I just think they each have their own places where they shine.

Thanks for the tip. I just dusted off my FL Missal and will use it at the 6pm FSSP Mass.
 
Thank you for that link! I think I looked there, briefly, but only saw the first missal. Have you purchase from that site?

I haven’t really used any other missal, so the Fr. Lasance is the one I am most familiar with. And based on the differences pointed out by Cider, I am more inclined to stay with that one.

A local Catholic store says it sells the St. Joseph Missal. I believe my mother gave one to my brother as a gift once and said he likes it. Does anyone have thoughts on the St. Joseph Sunday Missal?

I should have posted this before, but anyway I ended up picking up 3 vintage Fr Lasance missals since I started this thread and noticed some differences between them and the 1945 reprint version I have.

One of them is a 1937 Sunday missal though the other two are the New Missal for Every Day published in 1952 by Benziger. The 1952 has a good table of contents. Neither of these include the extensive introduction or mass study plan that is in the 1945 preprint. Both are smaller sized missals. They both also only have English in the Propers, unlike the reprint of the 1945 which has Latin and English for the Proper of the Season and Saints. The 1945 reprint is about 500 pages longer, even though it is a larger size missal than the others.

The one thing I can say for the 1952 is that the Latin and English on separate facing pages is very nice. But they also left in all the special prefaces in the middle of the mass so you have to flip past them all.

In the end I prefer the 1945 reprint.

Its a Traditional Catholic homeschooling and gift shop. Im lucky enough to have them about 10 mins away from me, but they ship worldwide. They are very good and very nice. They always have the FL Missal in stock (I just bought my 1962 Angelus Press missal there the week before Holy Week).
