it’s interesting to me that there seems to be more vitriol directed at this fellow rather than at the bishops and cardinals and priests who destroyed the bodies and souls of so many young children.

interesting indeeed.
The perderastic scum that have done so much to destroy young boys innocence and destroy Church credibility with their homosexual sin are among the vilest people that pollute the earth. Liberals would do well to join conservatives in ensuring that these crimes become fully persecuted in all areas of society, and not just the priesthood.

Pfleger on the other hand is a bombastic prancing fool and an embarrassment that his bishop has proven too weak to deal with, even complicit and enabling. The pulpit has become the stage for his own politics, and even Catholic teaching be damned if it gets in his way.

I don’t think this is the case at all…this isn’t a thread about the scandal…this is a thread about preaching false Church doctrine. Please don’t hyjack the thread.
Thank you. Changing the subject is a favorite tactic of those who can’t argue a subject. Kind of like a kid: "Oh yea! So’s your mother!!’

For those who want to discuss the abuse scandal, try another thread.

Not to get off subject, but be careful. I always remind myself that Christ died for sinners, and we need to pray for all people, especially sinners, and not condemn (and who isn’t a sinner? ;))

not trying to hijack the thread. just observing where priorities are.

Leading people away from the Church is a pretty big priority. Again, there are other threads for you to discuss the scandal.

But isn’t this one of the theological views that separates Catholics from Protestants? That we don’t have any “mediators” or no guidance from anyone but God Himself? <<<<<
Yes, it is, but I was refering to the manner of Pfleger’s preaching, not the content. As for that, he said what he said in a Catholic church, so I don’t think he meant that the Pope has no role in the life of the Church. Frankly, I’m not sure what he did mean by this outburst.

I’m sure someone has complained to Cardinal George about this priest. I wonder how the Cardinal answers such mail.

The problem with this priest is that so often you can’t be sure what he means. I’d like to assume the best, but since I have heard and seen such outrageous things from him, that is very hard to do. 😦

Too bad somebody didn’t show this to Cardinal George before he gave him the award.
The more unsettling thought is that Cardinal George has seem other examples of Fr. Pfleger in the pulpit and overlooked them.

You are exactly right on this…Fr. Pfleger is shall I say a “problem child” within the Archdiocese. He has been this way for many years now. Can’t even begin to tell you how many times he has had his wrist slapped, and continues to act out in the same manner. Although, Fr. is not even near my own Parish, he is in the same Archdiocese and I for one am really getting weary of his “rants”. I would think with Cardinal George as well, his behavior is getting really old, really fast.

Is there nothing a bishop can do in such cases?

Well in that case maybe El Papa should remove both, one blind man leading another ? both fall into the pit.

Looks like a new video was posted from Fr. Pfleger’s Easter homily.

About a minute or so in he says (rough transcript):

“Because Jesus ripped the veil and made a way for me to get in to the garden where he first put us…that would make me shout…all by myself. that would make me happy and cause me to praise him, cause me to glorify him cause me to exalt him all by myself…now that I can have once again that intimacy and that fellowship, I don’t need a high priest, I don’t need the Pope, I don’t need the Cardinal, I don’t need the patriarchs, I don’t need the prophets, I don’t need nobody…I can go to God for myself. Somebody need to shout cause you don’t need nobody to take you where you can go…”

He later claims that we all have the power of binding and loosing.

that is what happened when you hang around protestants. is it not what protestants preach? they dont need the pope, or bishops, or the CC. it is all about me and Jesus.

how long before someone in teh Church see what this man is doing to the people?
he is playing the people against the Church. i see a wolf by his voice.

Can somebody shout “laicization”!

Can I get an AMEN!
AMEN!

And hopefully the parishoners that love this guy will realize that it is done for their own good. And hopefully he is replaced with a priest on charge with the Holy Spirit to gather them back into the fold.

Whatever your feelings are for the actions of Fr. Pfleger, he is still a priest and deserves the respect due his position.
