Fr. Serpa, may I drink holy water?

Dear Father,

I had a situation where I felt not only the need to bless myself with some Holy Water (obtained from Church) but was fearful enough to feel it warranted drinking some, as well. To be honest, I believe there is something evil either in my house or even within myself, and I suffered a severe reaction spiritually and emotionally. At that moment, my best defense seemed to grab the Holy Water. A practicing Catholic friend who saw this had a problem with this.

I have been to holy shrines/sites where people drink waters from these places. Is there some disrespect or something wrong in doing so with Holy Water from Church?

Hi,

If we can consume the Body and Blood of the Lord, surely we can consume blessed water.
