I don’t know who watches EWTN, but Fr. William Casey is going to be at our parish on March 14 and will be giving the homily for each Mass.

I am excited, as although he has a different approach than Fr. Corapi, he is a great speaker.

We are a smaller parish and we have had other very good speakers come during Lent. I just wanted to share this.

Let us know if this is recorded and will be available at some later date for purchase. I wish Father Casey would come to our parish, but I don’t think they’d even let him in our diocese! We’re hoping better days will be coming soon.

I don’t think it will be recorded. Our parish is very traditional, although most of the parishes around me are not.

Can’t your priest ask any other priest to speak at your parish?

God Bless

I wish we could get Fr. Casey or Fr. Corapi at our parish but our “pastoral coordinator” thinks they are stuck in “old theology”.

What parish is it?

I attend San Secondo D’Asti near Ontario California. It is a very traditional parish, with a communion rail and it is used at every Mass, also the priest faces east. Lovely hymns. Sorry about your parish feeling they have to be relevant to today’s life style.

Both priests are great speakers and get to the nitty gritty of what it means to be Catholic and actually practice the faith.

Is this a lenten mission with Fr. Casey? If so, when is it? Also, who is your wonderful Bishop that supports such reverent parishes.

I assume it is a lenten mission, as I believe last year we had Patrick Madrid speak at night and then the whole next day, a Saturday he was also speaking. He will be at the parish on Sunday March 14 at all the Masses.

My Bishop is Bishop Barnes of San Bernardino, CA. I don’t know how conservative he is, but for some reason our parish also has the TLM. I have spoken to others who live close and they go from one parish to another for the TLM, not all in my county.

BIshop Barnes is also open to the Anglican Ordinariate, although I don’t think the Bishops anywhere have an option, but they could make it rough on people interested in it, by just ignoring their requests at this point in time.

I am thankful for him as I had at one time Cardinal Mahony over the area I lived in.

Sorry if that sounds uncharitable, but the Cardinal is well known throughout the local churches and also in other states.

By the way where do you live?

God Bless

I work about 5 miles from EWTN and usually go there for Confession when I have to go and sometimes Mass during the week (Fr. Mitch Pacwa said noon Mass yesterday).

I like Fr. Casey, but I find his delivery a little off beat. But his message is exactly on spot, right between the eyes, like it should be! I have no complaints. 🙂

ISorry if that sounds uncharitable.
No, it seems to be the opinion of the majority. I saw some information about it on The ‘American Papist’ blog.

Did you see the writeup on San Secondo d’ Asti in California Catholic Daily? Here’s a link: calcatholic.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?id=4d2c58c6-b3c6-4a7a-9890-741436f6e007

I am in So.Cal. quite frequently. It looks like I can fly by way of Ontario Airport. If time permits I’ll try to make it out to see Fr. Casey. Very convenient that he’s speaking at all of the masses that day.

Yours in Christ.

We brought him in last year for our Lenten Mission in Grand Forks, ND. He is excellent.
