To sum up the video was much longer and LifeSite wrote an update, whereby through analyzing the video by minutes and seconds (they would…) Pope Francis was only dodging at the end and in short was actually respectful. Some in the audience were not:
Fr Z had a sheepish sounding article (he sure ought to) where he admitted
the video was way longer than LifeSite originally cared to point out and quotes the careful analysis (minutes and seconds! These laity! The Pope!) Oh and this “Admittedly, Francis was a little rough with these unsuspecting faithful” – no, sounds like (as LifeSite FAILED to point out in the beginning. WITCH HUNT!) some of the audience were “admittedly” a “little rough” with the Holy Father.
And lots more media instances of Pope Francis sometimes kissing rings,
sometimes not — seems he’s more comfortable in small groups doing it.
As for the deplorable actors, in descending order of intemperance:
between 4 and 5 for badness…and I’m sure an hour long homily with heinous comments on Sensus Fidelium is in the works already…
Oh and I’ll keep this brief, I find this ironic considering LifeSite is all in on boosting another controversial world leader who claims to be misrepresented by the media. Oh and they also are very angry about what happened to Nick Sandmann. So ironic.
Francis Derangement Syndrome. Sad!
But they are careful to get their facts straight on Jussie Smollett
( Canon Law 1370 §1 “A person who uses physical force against the Roman Pontiff incurs a latae sententiae excommunication served to the Apostolic See” — where are the angry mobs on Twitter yelling for this excommunication? Why isn’t the Bishop doing his duty etc. etc. blargh blargh blargh blargh)However, if one studies the complete video, one sees that for about 40 seconds before he begins to draw back his hand, from 1:00:15 to 1:00:55, several of the faithful grasp the Pope’s right hand (his ring hand) and kiss the hand or the ring, holding the hand tightly with both of their hands.
This series of “graspings” may have led the Pope (even, perhaps, only subconsciously) to feel he needed a bit of “space” in order not to be “captured” by these grasping hands.
So, in the succeeding 55 seconds, every time someone began to reach for his right hand, he drew it back. That is the part of the video that has “gone viral.” [Ed. Thanks for helping it “go viral”]
Indeed, the Pope in these moments did something he did not do during the rest of the video: he lifts his right hand and grasps each person on their upper left arm, guiding each person to the side so that he can receive the next person.

As for the deplorable actors, in descending order of intemperance:
- Some Catholics on Twitter (Ironic who…)
- LifeSite comment section (Been banned there…guess I’m dead now….)
- Fr. Z (“OORAH”! More like “HOO BOY”…)
- Fr. Longenecker (can tell when His Holiness “sees himself as bigger than the office he holds”, thinks he has “not yet figured out that being the pope is not about him”… didn’t know that Fr. L is his confessor, or that a confessor could tell tales outside of the booth… )
