I’ve often seen on this forum discussions of St. Francis and his Franciscans and their musical (or lack thereof) tradition. The most common thing I’ve seen is that Franciscans spurn Gregorian and plainchant in the Divine Office for spoken recitation. However, I came across a few items which would suggest that this is not necessarily the case (I will post some below). Does anyone know anything more about the Franciscan sacred music tradition?
