All, is anyone familar with the Franciscans of the Holy Name Province which serve most of the East Coast of the USA? I have heard both, that they are liberal, and some few are trying to be faithful to the Pope etc? What do you all think of anyone joining them?
Thanks for your comments and time.👍

First, liberal is a subjective term. One can be liberal in thought and still faithful to the Pope.

Now having said that. I think you will find many kinds within that group, just as you will with most groups.

I have had the pleasure to meet two of their Brothers in my life, and I would not classify them as liberal in the least.

Franciscans may have liberal minds but they are still in obedience to the church. They are reformist but within the bounds of the Church.

St. Francis doesn’t just sit and watch the priests… He didn’t tolerated the wrong ways of the priests. He seek for reforms and yet he is obedient to the church and church’s teachings.
