We went to a neighborhood “farmer’s market” and bought some pastries from a traditionally-clothed, French-speaking – fluent in English, but French was clearly her primary language – sister, with the proceeds benefitting Fraternite Notre Dame, a group with a mother house on Chicago’s west side. They work among the poor in several nations.
I went to their website and read a little about their founding, saw several links to devotions like the Sacred Heart, the Blessed Mother and the Divine Mercy. They made mention of mass and sacraments and a bishop who was their founder. However, I saw no mention of Rome or the Pope and when I went to the Chicago Archiodocesan website, I could find no link to their site and a search on the Archiodcesan website turned up no mention of them.
