Wow…you should listen and watch this French monastic community of men and women sing the Office. They adapted Eastern rite harmony to the psalms and responses. Now this is what Pope JPII was talking about when he said that the Church must breathe with both lungs!

Here’s the link. The Office begins a minute or two into the recordings.

How very beautiful!!! If this was here in Dallas I would be there everyday( and the Episcopalians would at last have nothing on us. )

Before today’s (Oct. 13) recording is replaced by tomorrow’s, listen to the setting of Notre Pere (Our Father) that they sang at the ecumenical service (it was like an office, just with a rabbi and imam as guests) under “milieu du jour” (midday).

Click on “Voir le dernier office enregistre” and you can fast forward 36 minutes into the the 40-min recording (drag the circle on the line in Real Player to the 36 min only when the video begins to play after loading) to listen to this wonderful IMO setting of the Our Father. It starts at 37:14 into the recording I believe. It would be great to find an English version of this and have it sung by a church choir.

And looking at the video, you’ll notice people in this Paris church pray the Lord’s Prayer in the orans position.
