If You Look Over All The Posts Sexual Sins Are The Most Asked Thougt And Admonished Sins! Why Does This Sin Get So Much Attention, After All We Can Commit Many Other Mortal Sins More Easily. We Can Even Commit Other Sins In Mind As Easily As Lust!
Whoa, dude, don’t wear out the CAPS LOCK key!!
BEattitude, I guess the way I see it is this: Sex has become so heavily promoted in our society that many people cannot understand how anyone can lead a fulfilling existence if they are not having sex at every opportunity.
Sex is a very basic, primal thing to humans; it can turn a calm, thoughtful person into a slobbering animal very easily. If you notice, hundreds of people ask questions about sex on the Forums, trying to figure out just how far they can go without being sinful because
they are hung up on sex for the sake of pleasure.
The Church sees sex as something beautiful, something sacred, and weeps when sex becomes nothing more than an itch to be scratched. Sex, when properly framed within the protection of sacrament of Matrimony and open to the possibility of life, becomes a living symbol of Christ’s giving of Himself to His Bride, the Church. How sad it is to see such a magnificent passion reduced to simple sweatiness.
The Church strives to educate people that sometimes abstaining from sex is a greater demonstration of love than the act itself, and that engaging in sacrmental sexual love can be much more satisfying than simply “getting it on”.
Try not to be too hard on those who are struggling with sexual sin; remember that all sin is evil (though not all sin is mortal), including the sin of being overly judgemental of others. Pray for the strength to refrain from sin yourself, that you may become for others (especially unbelievers) a symbol of God’s grace and protection.
Pax vobiscum!
