I just wanted to say that I love you both. Now lets not get hung up here on name calling. We are, after all, on the same team.

And, I think that there is little doubt, unless you are one of his followers, that Fred Phelps is pretty out of step with what God really wants. He has to answer for that at some point. He also has to answer for teaching that to his flock.

I understand that Fred Phelps church is a family church, that is only his family attends it. His crew has been on protestant radio, and they make it plain that they do not believe his church is christian, nor are they saved.

Basically, how can one say they love God when they hate the humans they see in person.

If you have a problem with a post there is a red triangle on the top right side of the post that you can use to bring it to to moderators attention. That is the best way to handle-keeps us on topic and avoids flame wars.
 
Fred Phelps church is mainly a family church, I live in the town that his church is in, basically it looks like a military compound, big fence, flag pole (with the american and canadian flags upside down). I have never seen more than a dozen or two dozen protesting at my Parish.

I would say that the title is more a point at what can happen when you have no tradition to tell you how to interpret scripture. Yes, I believe homosexuality is a sin, I still believe you must love sinners, because we all are sinners.

Just a note, Phelps also is against America defending itself, they protest at soldiers funerals, basically saying, I told you so. ha ha ha.

Hi from a fellow Topekan. What Parish are you from? I’m from Mater Dei (the formerly Holy Name half).

I agree that it’s annoying to see the Phelps picketing everywhere around town, and to have Topeka best known as the home of the Phelps.
 
I was at Holy Name, but now we (my wife and I) go to Most Pure Heart of Mary because she works there.
