Free Contraception dramatically lowers abortion rate?

Mirena IUD has been the subject of many lawsuits. Women who have IUD have early abortions which means they are probably at higher risk of breast cancer as many studies have found a correlation between abortion and breast cancer. Researchers Rossling and Daling studied women who had an IUD and long time users had a higher risk of ecotopic prgenancy, which is the leading cause of maternal mortality in the US, for years after IUD was removed
Women need to be told about the health effects

However, the researchers highlight the fact that 75 percent of women taking part in the study chose a long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) — either an IUD or an implant\lifenews.com/2012/10/10/misleading-study-claims-obamacare-birth-control-cuts-abortions/.
My question would be how did they get 75% of these women to be implanted with a 5-10 year IUD that is considered dangerous.

The normal use in the general population is less that 10% that will be implanted with this IUD because of the many risks already stated. How did they get these young women all to be implanted - this is scary and did the government have any part if this study??

Study: Free contraception dramatically lowers the rate of abortions
NBC News - Breaking News & Top Stories - Latest World, US & Local News | NBC News
Rate of abortions cut about two-thirds, according to the study.

From the article:

When more than 9,000 women ages 14 to 45 in the St. Louis area were given no-cost contraception for three years, abortion rates dropped from two-thirds to three-quarters lower than the national rate, according to a new report by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis researchers.

From 2008 to 2010, annual abortion rates among participants in the Contraceptive Choice Project – dubbed CHOICE – ranged from 4.4 abortions per 1,000 women to 7.5 abortions per 1,000. That’s far less than the 19.6 abortions per 1,000 women nationwide reported in 2008, the latest year for which figures are available.
Current.com. and Wash U…That’s about all one needs to know.

So Contraception only reduced abortion instead of preventing it.

Funny, if you listen to some of the narratives of the progressive left, contraception is supposed to be this magical solution.

Trouble is, most people probably wouldn’t recognize anything besides a condom…which has been known to be removed or punctured on more than one occasion.

Whenever one sees “studies”, especially in the social sciences, one must consider the source and the possible motives.

Some are more transparent than others. but contraception is a detriment overall to civilization.

Even if it does, it doesn’t make contraception any better. All it does is promote promiscuous behavior in our society.

Would anybody be surprised by these results? Of course contraception reduces abortions.
Except that it doesn’t. See post #15 (last post on first page). Those studies are new to me, and I have a couple of pages filled with links to other studies that show the same thing: increasing contraception use increases the number of abortions (and STDs).

Why?
  1. More contraception encourages more sex (people think it is consequence-free, they won’t get pregnant). Since contraception fails 5-15% of the time (1 in 7 to 1 in 20), there are still more pregnancies because people are having more sex (usually out of wedlock, where they are far less likely to want children).
  2. Contraception encourages a mentality that children are objects, not people. Thus abortion is seen as just backup contraception, and sex is seen as recreation (thus encouraging even more of it).
  3. Children are the most vulnerable to these trends, because they often don’t understand the risks or proper use of contraception and are easily swayed by pressure. So more children at younger ages having sex leads to more unwanted pregnancies (with contraception still failing 5-15% of the time).
There are plenty of other reasons, but I don’t have time for them now. I’ll just leave you with this: in the US, from Planned Parenthood’s own research arm (the Guttmacher Institute), some 55% of abortions are sought by people who were using contraception.

This is exactly accurate.

Contraception: The Bacteria Devouring America’s Soul

Contraception is directly responsible for creating the culture of recreational sex. The culture of recreational sex demands abortion. It’s that simple.

Planned Parenthood hands out free contraception to young women because they know it increases the liklihood that those same women will return for an abortion before long.

A bit like saying that handing out free guns reduces the rate of knife-related suicides, murders and injuries … who cares?
The people being paid for the free guns. Only in this case it is Planned Parenthood being paid for the free contraceptions.
