Yes, that defines the situation.
That is not an answer.

So, let’s try again. Let’s take an example of a coerced decision, let’s say, of some victim of NKVD being forced to sign a false confession.

Would you say this decision is “rational” or “free”?
Yes, but what if you love your life? That is what I call it absurd decision.
Do you have any non-hypothetical example?
Different person might make different decisions on a situation depending on their characters and worldviews.
It has nothing to do with my question.

But let’s concentrate on my example with NKVD for now.

Would you say this decision is “rational” or “free”?
It could be free and rational, it could be free and irrational and it could be rational. We can always investigate a situation and decide rationally without getting involved in free decision. This leads to one case. We can always decide freely after we investigate a situation rationally. This leads to two cases.

Examples:
Free and rational: You investigate the situation and see that you cannot get torture anymore. You then freely decide to confess.
Free and irrational: You investigate the situation and see that you cannot get torture anymore but it is more important to you to get tortured and not confess. You then freely decide to confess.
Rational: You investigate the situation and see that you cannot get torture anymore. You then decide rationally to confess.

It could be free and rational, it could be free and irrational and it could be rational.
And so, you found a case where you classify a decision as both “free” and “rational”.

Thank you, I think we’re done here. 🙂
