They are attempting to go paperless. Some places are beginning to do this by loaning iPads with preloaded menus to the customers.
Well all that is well and good but sometimes, the server is obviously not able to retain the order (only 3 of us that night, 3 burgers, nothing fancy), and something gets left off. I am going to ask next time, that the order be written down on something.

Maybe one day, we’ll all just seat ourselves and call up the kitchen on our iphones when we’re ready to order. Fair enough.

HA!!! I have simply asked, made sure, asked again, and made sure. It would be far less tedious to just write it down; even if it’s not protocol for the restaurant, there is certainly no harm in writing it down for some orders, special circumstances, like crowds, newbie, confusion, medical alerts……

And I like that you will write the company with a GOOD report of their menu offers GF is an unusual find, I’d think, for a burger place…👍

It’s Red Robin, BTW. I get nothing from mentioning their name, just really happy that a national chain recognized that it’s not hard to serve GF customers and there’s a BIG reward for doing so!

To the OP, don’t sweat it. After working for quite a while in the restaurant business, it seems they likely just comped the pie because they screwed up. You tried your best, even going above and beyond. No reason to beat yourself up. And if you enjoyed the food, patronize them again.

Well, then, guess where I’d go next!!!😃
