My work is soliciting donations for Free the Children, presumably, to build schools in Africa. A pretty broad statement and, naturally, the presentations to employees are all positive.

I just wonder if anyone has insight on any troubling affiliations Free the Children might have, or if any of their work is not somethine one should support (sex education agenda vs. general education, for example.)

The little i could find has them tied to UNICEF, but I couldnt verify. Hoping for some help.

Thx

If in question, I would give a donation to an organization you know to be solid such as Catholic Social Services or Catholic Relief Services. Then you would have peace of mind knowing your funds are being put to good use. 🙂

Quite true, except that many employers (hint hint wink wink) PREFER that the employees give to “their” favorite cause. This was an issue with the United Way for years. I don’t know if it’s still a problem, but I remember working at a major corporation and having the lower paid employees truly believe that their jobs were at risk if they didn’t have funds taken from their paychecks to the UW.
Perhaps that is all in the past, but I suspect the OP is asking because there is pressure.
Or, maybe as you suggest, he merely wants to be informed. 🤷
Peace.

Just going to their website, I see a red flag with the words “sustainable development” which, despite the innocent description, has been tied into population control and the culture of death. Have you been given any indication that they are affiliated with USAID who freely supports sustainable contraception in the African market?

The problem, of course, is finding real proof of this group’s authentic goal. I am leery of most international charities; in fact, we do not even give to Catholic Relief Services anymore due to recent reports that they are (by their own admission,) giving donations to organizations which support causes contrary to Catholic moral teaching.

Anything connected with UNICEF should send up a big red flag. I would not give them one penny until you can be certain that do only what they say they are doing.
