So my boyfriend ( Who is actually converting to the Catholic Church next year from being Presbyterian) pointed out a very interesting concept of Free WIll vs The Elect.

Moses States in Exodus 32:32 “Or if thou do not, strike me out of the book that thou hast written.” ( An example of the Book of the Elect) God then responds with “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book."
This then would imply that you are not ‘assumed’ into heaven and that God does not have a certain book to which someones name will never be removed…no matter what they do. God here is implying the Grace of Free Will. I mean, If it really were total depravity then God would have said ’ well Moses, your name was never there…or " I can’t take them out…" or something along the lines of that.

Feel free to coment =)

God Bless!

Where do you get ‘book of the elect’? Exodus does not say this. Reference Exodus 32:33 with Revelations 20:12.

I think she is just replying to the idea that comes with Calvinist doctrine and total depravity. The question isn’t really where she came up with “The book of the elect” but where Calvinists and “Reformed Theologians” came up with it.
