Just listened to a podcast that argued
gods ability to accomplish his will is not dependant on man.
Ie: we can only respond positively to actual grace
allowing man’s interaction here is essentially a depletion of the sufficiency/power of god…

References provided were
Matt 11: 25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

John 6: 39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

john17: 9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

I would like to understand this and the catholic response

please help or point me to a tract/webpage…

I would recommend listening to another audio talk, this time by Dr. Peter Kreeft, a well-known Catholic philosopher who teaches at Boston College:

He has wonderful insights as to how God’s will, Divine Providence, and our free will all fit together.

With regard to the Bible references, it seems (at least to me) that someone is using the familiar Bible proof-texting method, which Protestants frequently use and which leads to error. I would be very cautious when someone just starts throwing Bible quotes at you, without true context, historical, cultural, and linguistic persective, etc. The Bible was never meant to be used in that way.

(You may want to also view the 3-part video series, “Origin of the Bible” at the following link: alabamacatholicresources.com/Bible.html 🙂
