I see a lot of conspiracies from ‘Trad Catholics’ online, it just seems like a lot of non sense, but I have to ask, can a Freemason even become Catholic?

“Because the revised code of canon law is not explicit on this point, some drew the mistaken conclusion that the Church’s prohibition of Freemasonry had been dropped. As a result of this confusion, shortly before the 1983 code was promulgated, the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a statement indicating that the penalty was still in force. This statement was dated November 26, 1983 and may be found in Origins 13/27 (Nov. 15, 1983), 450.”

No a catholic can’t become a freemason but 99% of freemason conspiracies are way off base. They are old man who meet in worn out bingo halls, have secret handshakes and do nothing else. It’s hardly as powerful as people think it is. It’s also dying off. In a few generations, it’s won’t exist.
Edit-they do have a few hospitals for children and burn victims, so they do more than exchange secret handshakes! Lol

I recently saw a slick ad on tv for the Freemasons, encouraging people to come be a part of their tradition. To anyone that didn’t know anything about them, it looked like just an ordinary fraternal organization. When I saw it, I thought they must be looking for some younger members.

My neighbor is a Freemason. He’s in his 60’s and he says he’s the youngest one in his area. I didn’t know that they ran a hospital for kids, but he told me there are three of them!
He asked me once about if Catholics worship Mary and I told him that I find anti-Catholic conspiracies as frustrating as anti-Mason ones. We laughed about it. It was a bonding moment, for sure.

I don’t think a Catholic is allowed to be a Mason. The one I know really dislikes the Church to put it mildly and paints the Church with a broad brush because some bad priests helped the Fascists escape to South America. Masons are usually High Church Protestants(Methodists, Anglicans) I think.

Freemasonry doesn’t seem dangerous now because its beliefs permeate society. Most people share the beliefs of Freemasonry and don’t know it. The modern world is Freemasonic.
