You know that EU idea where France wanted to boss everyone in Europe around… well… nevermind:

Poll shows French cooling on EU treaty

What makes anyone at the EU think that Chirac would treat them any differently than he’s treated anyone else previously? The man is consistent.

Opposition to the proposed new constitution is not necessarily the same as opposition to the EU project as such.

In one of the dangers of our having an almost common language you should note that when the article, news.ft.com/cms/s/265629b0-97a5-11d9-912c-00000e2511c8.html, Says
The directive, which seeks to free the European services market, has been seized upon by the No camp in France as evidence that Europe is heading in an excessively “liberal” direction.
The word liberal means free market. Neo-liberal thinking in Europe is similar to neo-conservative thinking in the US. This is why
Mr Lévy noted a particularly sharp drop in support for the treaty among socialist voters
If you have posted this story because you are pleased at the growth of left wing sentiment in France then I share your joy. It is possible however that you have other motives.

France’s political elite was stunned on Friday by an opinion poll that showed for the first time a majority of voters opposed the European Union constitutional treaty.

Jacques Delors, former president of the European Commission, warned of a “political cataclysm” if France voted No to the constitution in a national referendum on May 29.

Well after all it is only an opinion poll. Worth nothing. Secondly i am hoping and praying for this ‘political cataclysm’. It is the only way the bureaucrats will learn a lesson.

For far too long they have been handed all on a silver platter. No harm that they realise we actually do have a though process.

Don’t forget the Constitution they are trying to pass has no specific mention of God nor of the Christian heritage of Europe.

See in the fold of the European flag, the smile of the Blessed Virgin Mary. (12 stars on a blue background, adopted for use on 8th December 1955)
